"Thank you for your understanding." She smiles.

He is trapped in his regard for a few seconds before he also regains composure and stands to his feet, Veronica follows suit.

"How about we meet with my lawyer and go over the contract so that you are aware of your rights and then we can talk about those health tests later on?" He says softly, his breath heavy.

She agrees to his meeting and he thanks her for her reconsideration before she makes her way out of his house and gets on her way.

Veronica stares anxiously at Michael. She'd never been to a hotel as fancy as the one they were in. Every thing looked so damn expensive that she could bet that the price of just one of the chairs they were seated in could cover most of her debts. They were in a small and private conference room with a fairly large and tastefully carved mahogany table that could sit approximately ten people. The floor was lined with impressively polished dark wood and a delectable scent wafted the air- or maybe that was just Michael. Thick nude colored drapes hung from the ceiling and all the way down to the floor, surrendering the only source of light to the crystal chandeliers that suspended gracefully from the ceiling. She directs her gaze away from Michael who is unmitigatedly perturbed by Naomi's tardiness and muses at a number of paintings and photographs that are firmly plastered to the wall including a picture of Nero's statue- taken at Anzio in Italy, a painting of the Domus Aurea and that of a Bajau fisherman.

They had been waiting for Naomi for thirty minutes now and she was beginning to get agitated from being alone with Michael. Anytime they were contiguous, she would feel that familiar yet strange energy she felt when she was in his living room that night, an electricity or some sort of pull that she couldn't ignore. She wondered if he felt it too, if it affected him the way it affected her. She thought of the moment when she walked into his office, the way his gaze held hers, capturing all of her-body, mind and soul, in that moment it was like everything in the world except him had become a blur. She shook those silly thoughts out of her head-He's a rich man using you for your eggs, never forget that, she tells herself.

There was nothing to talk about seeing as he had already asked her about ten times and counting if she wanted to eat or drink something, each time she declined.

"I'm sorry for the delay. Naomi can be very unprofessional at times."

Michael apologizes.

She smiles. "So why do you still allow her to work for you?"

"I have no clue." He chuckles, making Veronica to raise a brow.

They are both distracted by Naomi who rushes in looking very remorseful for her lateness. Today her silky black hair is loose and swinging freely over her shoulders, she is dressed casually in a little black dress and evidently pricey black leather sandals.

"Sorry. Sorry. Sorry." She says as she takes off her black sling bag and grabs a seat next to Michael.

"I'm so sorry, Michael. You know how this goes, do I need to explain myself?"
