"What the hell are you doing here?", she said.
"What the hell are you doing here?", he said.
Angela's eyes couldn't have opened any bigger than this. First she had been hammered with endless questions without a pause by the policemen, then she was left alone in the dim room fighting her tiresome body not to bob her head in sleep. And then? Then, Steven Morris stood before her in his always immaculate navy suit and tie.
After all the months of not seeing a glimpse of his face, she thought she wouldn't recognize him if she met him again. She thought she had forgotten his face, forgotten him. Yet, as soon as the door opened, she instantly recognized the waft of perfume he brought with him. And when she looked at him, she was stunned with herself that she could utter a word. In his crisp expensive navy suit and his perfectly faux-hawk blonde hair, he was even more alluring then he had ever been. Until he spoke back, with all the same sarcasm since their last conversation. But then again, what did she expect? She was in a holding cell, arrested.
"I'm not sure this is the type of place you like to frequent to." He eyed their surrounding as he stepped further in the room.
"That became none of your business four years ago." She wasn't going to let him put her down even if her being arrested made her completely tight on her actions.
"Does that apply too if I say I'm here to get you out of your mess?"
Damn it, the confidence he had in himself always made her fell inferior to him. "I don't need you to do anything for me."
"Oh sorry. I guess Tony must be coming for you. But then again, if he were to come he would have came hours ago. If only you had used the one phone call." Angela's jaw tightened at knowing such information. "I'm curious to know why you didn't call Tony. Did he leave you? Did you leave him? I'm guessing it's the first. Maybe he caught a naked man in your bed like I did."
"You bastard. You--"
A burly cop came in and Angela's shame came back full-on as he uncuffed her hands. "Alright, alright. You may take your conversation somewhere else. You're free to go, Mrs. Morris."
"I'm not Mrs- " Angela was cut off with Steven's tight grin on her forearm.
"Thank you, Officer." Steven shook the officer's hand with his famously captivating smile.
"Good night Mr. and Mrs. Morris. Just remember the condition of the bail Mrs. You shall not commit another felony in the next six months."
Steven's lopsided smirk directed at Angela. "And I'm going to make sure of that."
"If you keep driving and don't ask where you are to drop me, I'm jumping out of this car."
Click! The sound of the doors locking instantly made her even more infuriated.
"I'm taking you with me to make sure you don't steal another phone, purse, or waiter tips ever again."
"I didn't steal. I only ever took the unattended." Angela defended herself.
"I don't know. Maybe because I just realized that mentioning him hurts you as much as it once did to me. So tell me was he any better than me in bed or is that why you ditched him too?"
Angela choose not to speak. First because she didn't want to be reminded of Tony and secondly because he must know nobody could ever be better in bed with her than him.
"I give up." She saw him smile. "I give up only on this conversation. I'm not giving up on not coming with you." True be told she gave up on have an actual conversation with him long time ago. "Please drop me off on Eleventh Street."
"I'm taking you back to my place."
"Your place being the apartment on the thirtieth floor or our place you called your place which you have thrown me out off?"
"I've sold our place the next day of our divorce. And I didn't throw you out. I divorced you. Then again what did you expect me to do. I find a man in all his glory sleeping in our bed while my wife cooked dinner for two while her husband was in Europe on work and took a flight earlier to surprise."
Angela's voice raised with irritation. "You surely shouldn't have forced me to sign your divorce papers then ordered me out of our house the same minute before giving me a chance to utter a single word."
"I didn't need to hear your word." Steven remained calm and steady straight.
"Yea, because you only listen to yourself. And trust me you won't ever have to hear another word from me if you just unlock this door. You can drop me off here."
