Angela's gaze returned to the darkness of the tinted black windows. "You finally got what you wanted from me I guess."
"What do you mean?"
Angela met his eyes and she didn't even try to hide her anger. "Since the day I came back here all you wanted was to have sex with me." She whispered to not wake Daniel, to prevent John from listening and humiliate herself.
Steven smirked. "You didn't stop me today."
"Oh, I wish I did, trust me." Angela uttered through gritted teeth.
"Wasn't it good?"
"It was cheap, Steven. And it was wrong." Angela scolded.
John cleared his throat from the front seat, signalling their arrival at Steven's building before the chauffeur exited and rounded the car to open the door for them. Just in time, Angela thought.
After bidding John a good night, Angela removed her high heels and insisted on taking Daniel from Steven's hold.
"He's heavy."
"I know he is. I've held him before." Angela told Steven with a hint of sarcasm before her arms slipped around Daniel and took him in her arms. "Hold my shoes."
Angela strode towards the elevator with Steven in her shadow watching her struggle to balance the added weight of the boy on her hips. The ride up the elevator, Steven wanted to snitch the boy back into his arms and free her small arms from the weight but he knew she'd argue against it so he just held her shoes.
As the elevator arrived at Steven's floor, Angela went straight to Daniel's room. Within a few minutes, she had dressed his sleepy body into his new favorite soccer pyjamas and was tucked in bed. Her clothes were still stowed in Daniel's room and so she changed into her night set of shorts and tank top, cleaned her face off her make up before exiting the room.
Angela was uncurling her hair free from her bun before she paused her walk to the sofa. She had expected Steven to have gone to his room already.
"Are you going to enjoy sleeping on that sofa tonight?" Steven's lopsided smirk was wicked as he poured whiskey into a small glass. "Want some company maybe?"
Angela ignored him. His chuckle sounded as she went on to adjust the wrinkled bed sheet on the sofa and patted down the bunched pillow. She couldn't let him know how much she dreaded sleeping on that sofa after what had happened there. "Your switching moods today are annoying."
Footsteps approached her. "I wasn't constantly annoying." His hand went to reach her bum.
She knew she couldn't though.
"Mama, wake up." Daniel screamed enthusiastically as he shook Angela from her sleep. "Wake up. Daddy want to see you."
"Daddy?" In a second, Angela was wide awake, tumbling her own body off the sofa. Daddy?!
"Your daddy wants to see you. Steven told me to tell you that."
Her daddy. Phew! For a moment she though Steven had said something more than he should to her son. "Did he tell you anything else?"
The boy shook his head before galloping ecstatically to his room. He returned back with a toy truck. It was the first time she was seeing that truck. Though she didn't need to ask who he got it from.
Her feet walked her to the kitchen without permission from her own brain. She needed a caffeine boost. As she set the coffee machine to mix a latte, she noticed the sink. The empty sink, more precisely. Steven had skipped breakfast.
Angela had been so deep in her sleep, she hadn't heard Steven wake up. She didn't even realize Daniel had woken. Her son had even changed his pyjama. Or rather Steven changed his pyjamas unless Daniel had miraculously learned how to dress himself overnight. Imagining Steven with her son, Angela wished she had been awake for that.
