Her hands went to cup his face, her thumbs stroking the stubble on his jaw. And then, his soft warm lips grazed her own lips. Angela didn't move, didn't refuse him. She couldn't. She kissed him back. If he hadn't kissed her, she would have kissed him. She had longed for a tender kiss like that for long, heart-wrenching years.
When they stopped to catch their breath, Steven's eyes pierced with hers. And she saw the same emotion she saw during their marriage. True want.
Without missing another beat, Steven lifted her up into his arms and walked with her towards the bedroom they had been sharing lately. He kept on walking into his bathroom. He set Angela down on her feet. Then turned on the water tap of the bathtub.
Steven returned to Angela. His fingers brushed her hand and went up her arm causing goosebumps all over her skin, causing her a shiver. His hands made their way back down her arms, found the hem of her shirt. As if they had all the time in the world, Steven slowly removed her shirt over her head. Then discarded her bra.
Angela took her turn in unbuttoning his shirt, taking a whole second with each button. And when Angela pushed the shirt off his arms, Steven released the button of his pants, tugged it down with his boxers. His socks were off too. With her eyes never flinching from his, Angela removed her pants and panties.
Steven tested the water in the bath. Now with a little hurry, he sauntered to a cupboard and returned with a bottle in his hand. Lavender soap. He poured half the contents in the water. He wanted to smell the scent that was once his favorite.
Like a gentleman, he offered out his hand to Angela, inviting her to get in the water. She did and when she sat in the warm water, she didn't let go of his hand as he remained standing next to the bath, watching her.
"You're still so beautiful." Steven whispered.
With a shy smile, Angela tugged on his hand, urging him to join her. He obliged and in a second, he was in the water on top of her. Angela accepted his large body into her arms and between her legs.
His lips were quick to catch hers while his hands lifted the soapy bubbles and rubbed them over her body. Angela lathered the soap over Steven's body as well. For minutes it was just them, kissing and their hands roaming over each other's body. Steven had particularly ran his hands with more attention over her breasts and pointed nipples. Until Angela's hands went to down his bum, to his thigh and in between. Steven hissed at her touch while he caught her bottom lip between his teeth. His hand went under her body and pushed her up to him, to make her feel the effect she was making to his body. Angela's nails trailed down his back causing his body to tense with the arousal she was evoking in him.
Angela's eyes flew open. She was wide awake at the first ray of sunlight that pierced through the window.
The memories of the day before came running back to her as felt Steven's arm draped over her stomach. He was still in his sleepy wonderland and she couldn't help but stare at him like she used to do on the days she would have woken up before him during their marriage. Steven Morris, with all his mightiness, all his power, all his arrogance, during his sleep he seemed at ease, he seemed small, he seemed completely free of fault. He seemed absolutely perfect.
And last night, he was. The whole night had been marvelous. Amazing. Much better than the other day they'd been together. Goodness, it was better than any other time for that matter.
How was it even possible? How could it be better than during their marriage, when they were was much more feelings for each other? Or was she imagining it was? No, she wasn't. The happiness she felt that morning was her proof. Just as she would wake up when they had been married. When they still loved each other. He had told her he still did.
