On getting into the dinning hall, I walked over to my grandpa and gave him a hearty good morning kiss to his cheek.
I said good morning to mum before taking my sit at my usual spot at the table.
"Look who finally decided to join us for breakfast" My mum said as my father made his entrance.
"Sorry mum, I had to take an important call back there, but am done now so let's eat. " He told her.
"A call more important than being with family?" She bit out
"Mum, don't be like this, I already said I was sorry." He stated.
"Hand over your phone." My mum said looking at dad pointedly with a hands stretched out expectantly.
He gave in reluctantly after much grumbling making I and my grandfather chuckle in amusement.
"You think it's funny?" She asked us with a serious questioning expression.
When I say hand your phone over, it includes both of you. She told us, poi it fingers our direction , making our once upturned lips flattem out into a straight line.
"But muuum...why do you get to be the one who holds our phones hostage?" I challenged.
" Because this is my house, my rules." She responded coolly.
"But it's Grandpa house too. Gramps show her who's boss." I caoarse my grandpa who immediately raised his hands to surrender to my mum. Making my mum let out a cheeky smile.
"I cant believw you!!" I said shaking my head in disappointment.
"Yes dad, how can you let her have you wrapped around her fingers like that?" My dad said looking at grandpa with astonishment.
"Hey!! Leave my man be. You are one to talk. Angel has you wrapped around her fingers and you don't hear anybody fussing about it." She said with an eye roll.
"That's a lie!" we both exclaimed at once.
Everyone calm down please? My grampa said with an amused smile on his face.
"Youre enjoying this aren't you?" I accused him.
Of cause I am. It's been so long since I last had you and Jack at this table at the same time, and seen my wife biker much. I almost thought she was loosing her touch. He said with a big grin when my mum sneered.
Jugeing by your unshocked expression at seeing your father ,I suppose you already met before now? He further asked.
"Yeah, last night. " I responded
Hmm really? My mum decided to chip in.
"Yes, now enough talking about me, how was your date night?" I asked.
"Oh... do you want the x-rated or children friendly version of the story?" She asked me with a mischievous grin. She was definitely trying to tick dad off.
"You know I'm always up for the juicy gist. But for dad's sake, let's hear the children friendly version." I told her with a wink.
"Lewis was amazing! First he took me to this restaurant that served the best sea foods. It was delicious. He booked out the whole restaurant for us two as usual" she said the last part in reprimanding tone.
Then he had us go to the tattooist to get a tattoo of my name on him. Heard that thing hurt like a bitch but Lewis here said he didn't feel a thing. I know he lied to make me feel better.
Finally, We went to this classy jazz bar were he showed me some dance moves I didn't even know he had. I thought I had seen it all at our wedding, who knew he had some more" she said chuckling.
"Aweee....Who would have thought my old man still got some moves." I said to him.
"Oh, he sure does. If you know what I mean." She said looking my way with a delish glint in her eyes.
"Mum! What happened to keeping this conversation PG." My dad protested to I and my mum's amusement.
"But we aren't kids here are we?" My mother said with mock innocence.
"But Angel-" he began
" Angel is grown enough to know this things. I'm surprised she doesn't have a man yet." She finished for him.
"Mum tha-"
"Alright, alright, pipe it down guys. let's eat now shall we? I'm starving." I said making them both halt their unnecessary argument.
At this, my grandpa signaled the maids to serve the dishes and I was more than happy to dig right in.
Mum and I made little talks in between while dad and Grandpa seemed engrossed in a serious conversation, which was short leaved as soon as my mum gave them a scolding. More like a ear full.
I was about taking a bite of my meal when I felt a hand on my knee which I knew belonged to my father. I slowing pushed is hand away without making eye contact in other not to draw attention as I continued eating.
I thought I had seen the end of it till I felt his hand on my thigh again.
This time taking much bolder stride as it creeped its way up my inner thigh before pinching my sensitive skin making me jolt involuntarily.
"Angel anything wrong?" My mum asked.
So much for not drawing attention.
"No, no, not at all. Everything is perfect. " I told her as I glaced at my father with the Conner of my eye to find him with a stupid grin.
"Are you sure it's nothing? You look tense." My dad mocked earning a glare from me.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" I asked with a fake smile. Which my dad raised his brows to.
"What is wrong with both of you?" My mum asked looking from me to my dad in confusion.
"Nothing!!" We said in unison
"Oh really?" She asked with her signature "talk before I make you in a painful way expression." Making me tense.
"I'm getting a job"
"She's decided to go back home with me"
How do you feel about working under me as an intern?" My mum asked.
"Hmm, I dont know." I said quite unsure.
You should be graduating college in a months time. Why not give it a try for a month, if you don't like working for me, you can leave then. She coarse.
"It's a deal" I said with a smile
"Good. Since you want the whole work searching and finding experience, take it as you have searched for a job and found one that's hiring.
Send in your CV to my mail tonight. And I'll interview you, strictly, in a week's time??"
"Thank you so much mum, your the best!" I said with a wide grin on my face.
I love you hon.
Hey what about me? Grandpa said from beside her earning a glare from her or what was supposed to be a glare.
I am in doubt right now." She told him.
But why, ?
"I asked you to talk our son out of his bad habit not tell him stories that would encourage him!"
I'm sorry Ver, ( Short for Veronica) please forgive me. I'll give him a scolding, I promise. He pleaded, but mum was vicious.
Mum just give the man some love would you. He is about to cry. I protested.
I don't think you should encourage then love." My dad told me.
"You know how mum loves to give her love" he said cringing at the thought making us all laugh.
"It's my damn house Jack, get your butt out if you don't like what I do in it with my husband."
With pleasure, as soon as I'm done with my meal. He fired back making my mum snicker and my grandpa to chuckle.
I hope to see more of you son, and you too Angel. You don't know how happy it makes me feel having you here. Maybe next time we should invite your sister and her husband. It would be a full house expecially with the her kids." Grandpa stated with a small smile.
"It would be fun, I'll check my schedule and inform you when I'll be free" My dad replied.
"You better creat time if you don't want me to chop off your balls" My mum threatened with a warning glare.
"Enough of this already. More eating less talking." I chipped in making my mum give an eye roll before saying
" as if that's ever going to happen"
Making us all laugh and soon we all went back to our sushed side talks and slow munching.
Looking at how things are now, big smiles on our faces, I was right. Today was gonna be great.
