"Never disrespect me again, Darling," he said, his voice lowering and making direct eye contact. I looked at him and barely even flinched.
"Never tell me what to do," I spat back at him and kneed him where the sun don't shine and as he growled, his claws scratching the trees, I went under his arms and out of the tree trap. I stopped for a few seconds and turned around, I waited until he made eye contact with me and flashed him the middle finger.
That's right.
BITCH.
I stormed away.
I walked around the territory and realized that Thaddeus was trailing slightly behind me. As I walked, I noticed that the farther I went, the poverty of the people increased.
"Darling, you're not allowed there."
"What did I say about calling me that?" I spoke as I increased my pace, but Thaddeus came running up to me blocking my path.
I glared at him and looked around him. A little boy was on the ground with a makeshift cloth and some rusty sandals with his head resting on a brick. I gasped and tried to push Thaddeus away but he didn't budge. I looked at him as his stone cold glare was on me. This kid could be Mae's mate! He seemed to be about seven or eight with dark brown hair.
"Why, what's over there?" I asked him.
"People who don't belong," was all he replied before taking my wrist and dragging me back. I slapped his hands and wrists.
"Get your filthy hands off me," I growled, my wolf getting extremely angry at the moment. He didn't bother to release me, his grip only tightened around my wrist.
Trust me, you ass, I'm not taking this shit for long.
"You don't belong," I mumbled, earning a growl from him.
"No way! I'm sleeping in the same room as you," I stated after he dragged me into 'our room.'
"Don't be silly, I know you can't resist me."
"I'm pretty sure I can," I replied glaring at him.
He chuckled as he looked over at me.
"Darling, denial is the first step."
"First of all, it's Scarlett, and second of all, if you keep talking, the next step is bruise number two," I replied and walked out of the room. Having no idea where I was going, I ended up in the kitchen. AKA the best place in the world and grabbed a glass of water. I finally got a chance to look at myself in the mirror that was on the fridge and smiled, seeing that all my injuries had healed.
"Darling, there you are," he said and I glared at him,
"I was gone for a solid five seconds."
"Dinner wasn't that bad was it?" Thaddeus asked as he finished his meal. While mine was left untouched.
"It was okay ," I replied. "The chicken was kinda-dry." He smirked at me before speaking,
"I have some stuff to do, I'll be back in a half an hour, you better be eating or in bed," he ordered me as if I was a dog.
"Yes, master," I retorted. He growled at me and stalked off in the other direction. I grabbed my plate, found the back door, sprinted outside and followed the same route as earlier. The sun was setting, making it somewhat difficult to find my way. As I walked, I began to think about everything that has happened. When I was younger, my mother used to tell me about a red thread from a proverb. Something about how this red thread is our future and gets darker and darker as we continue through life, learning new lessons and meeting new people.
Maybe I was apart of Thaddeus's red thread to change him.
I shook my head as the same brick from earlier came into view with the same little boy resting.
"Hey, hey," I said, lightly shaking the boy who was still asleep. He shot up and his eyes relaxed when he saw me.
"Who are you?" he asked.
"Not important, here's some food for you and your family," I said and gave him my dinner. He smiled happily, his pale cheeks warming but his smile had begun to fade.
"Did Alpha Thaddeus poison it?"
"N-N-No, honey, I made it," I told him, in a panicky manner. He gave me a grateful smile before running off into the woods; the smell of the food left my stomach growling.
