The man had also made no attempt to explain anything when people teased him about Natalie. He had simply remained silent, as if none of it were a big deal.
Then why was she the one who kept feeling guilty?
Eli sighed softly.
“Still thinking about him?” Josh asked.
Eli was silent for a moment before answering, “A little.”
Josh did not ask anything further. He only nodded slightly and returned his attention to the road. A moment later, he said, “By the way, don’t forget to come to the finals.”
Eli turned to him. “Your game?”
“Whose game else would it be?”
Eli smiled faintly. “I don’t know if I can make it yet.”
“Why?”
“I have classes. Maybe practice too.”
“Then check your schedule and match it with the game schedule. Or, however you have to do it, you have to come watch me play.”
Eli chuckled softly. “Do you really want me to come?”
Josh glanced at her briefly. “Of course.”
“Why?”
“Because I want to see you there.” Josh glanced at Eli with a faint smile. “Besides, Uncle Chris, Uncle Cale, Daddy, and Mommy will definitely be there. Don’t you want to support me too?”
Eli was silent for a moment. The answer sounded simple, but it was enough to make her smile. “I’ll try.”
Josh immediately shook his head. “Make an effort, Eli. Don’t just try.”
Eli shook her head while smiling. “You’re really good at forcing me.”
“Of course. That’s one of my specialties.” Josh laughed. “But if you don’t come later, don’t blame me if I deliberately find excuses to complain to you.”
Eli laughed. “Whatever.”
“So you’re coming?”
“Josh.”
“All right, all right.” Josh chuckled. “I won’t force you.”
Eli looked out the window again. Not long after, the large gate marking their entry into Raven University came into view. Eli’s dorm was on the right side and still quite far from the main gate.
“Reply to Mommy’s message,” Josh said as he began slowing down the car. The dorm Eli had pointed out was already coming into view.
“Yes,” Eli replied with a smile. “You don’t need a message, right?”
“Eli!” Josh frowned in protest. “How can you be so cruel to me?”
Eli burst out laughing.
The car stopped right in front of Eli’s dorm. Josh turned off the engine and then looked at her. Eli picked up her bag and opened the car door.
“Thank you for taking me.”
“Don’t forget to message Mommy.”
Eli smiled faintly. “Yes. You’re so naggy.”
However, just as she stepped out of the car, she stopped. Not far from the entrance to the dorm, David and Natalie could be seen walking closer. Both of them were wearing sportswear and seemed to have just finished jogging.
Eli briefly looked away. She had deliberately returned this morning because she still had class this afternoon, but she had not expected to run into them at all.
