"Ms. Devila, I have some very interesting news." Mr. Rasco speaks through the phone I cross my legs on top of the bed.
"What is it?"
"I would much rather speak about this in person, when will you be coming back?"
"Uh soon," I reply, trying to remember the exact date that Trevor told me. "Perhaps in a day or two."
"Great, contact me as soon as you arrive, and Ocean?"
"Yes?"
"Be careful, not everyone is who they seem." With a click, he ends the call, and my eyebrows furrow. Did he find out the killer?
My nerves were racked as I pondered on his last words. Maybe it was nothing, just a PIs intuition.
I place the phone back onto the dresser at the same time that Trevor walks in running a hand through his hair.
"What happened?" I ask, as he drops onto the bed and he gulps.
"She had a miscarriage."
"A miscarriage?" I repeat and he nods. "Okay ... so what did that have to do with you? It obviously wasn't yours."
"Something's wrong with Aloria, mentally." Yes, we can all see that.
"She could barely focus while she was talking to me, and she kept repeating the same words.
Before we separated I made a promise that I would always be there for her and I guess she's holding me accountable because I wasn't there when she was experiencing the miscarriage."
"Seriously?"
"My dad is bringing her back to the hospital right now; she left without them even knowing."
"Wow." I breathe and he runs his hand through his head once more.
"What is it?" I notice the distraught look on his face and he clenches his jaw.
"I think ... I think she did it."
"Did what?"
"I think she killed the baby."
"So an abortion?" I tilt my head at him and he gulps.
"I- yeah but ... I don't think she did it ... like with a doctor or anything."
"What do you mean?"
"There's this herb that's found here that you can drink and it'll terminate the pregnancy. I think that's what she took." I let out a deep breath, trying to absorb all the information.
"Well ... I suppose it's her body ... her choice?"
"Aloria killed the baby to get sympathy from me, what else is she capable of?" Trevor finally spits out the last of what he was thinking and I sigh. "We need to get her admitted into a Mental hospital."
"Then let's do that," I tell him and he shakes his head.
"It's a lot harder than you think, Aloria's family has money and a reputation to uphold, there's no way they'd let their child sit in a place with mad heads, they'll just bribe whoever they have to, to get her out." He explains. "Point is, she's dangerous, and I think we need to get out of Italy."
"Hey." Emma plopped next to me and I smiled at her. "It's been nice having you here, although we didn't really get to go out much as I would've liked, however, I'll be in America in a few days. Shall we meet up?"
"Yes, of course. You find him, and you'll know where to find me." I grin and she giggles.
"I'm so happy for him," She says, her Italian accent thick. "It's been so long since he's just found a girl to love him, Aloria was draining him, whether he acknowledges it or not."
"I wish you two the best."
"Thanks, Emma."
"Can you bring me back a souvenir next time you come?"
Trevor's dad yells from the other side and I chuckle. "It's been over a decade since I've seen my home."
"I will. Why don't you visit?"
"Oh no," He shakes his head.
"Over there is no longer my place, this is my home now."
"Aw." His wife coos and they share a kiss.
"Fucking gross," Trevor mutters under his breath and I slap his arm.
"Stop it." He shyly leans his head onto my shoulder, having to sink a little into his chair and I just breathe a sigh of happiness.
"They love you." He says. "I knew they would."
