Chapter 78
“Oh, we’ll have a lot of pictures of my mate carrying my pup,” Christian growls, making Shane and I laugh.
“We’ll talk soon. Love you both. Bye!” we say.
When I hang up, I turn, putting my arm around Shane’s neck. “What did we need to talk about?”
“Have you thought about what you want to do after the Academy?” he asks me.
I slide my fingers into his hair at the back of his neck. I feel the goosebumps rise along his neck and feel his body shiver at my touch. I love that. He said he loves how responsive my body is to him, but his body is just as responsive to me.
“I have thought about it. It’s a bit overwhelming though. Having so many options is kind of stressful. Why do you have a job offer for me?” I ask, teasing.
Rather than laugh like I expected, his eyes remain intense on mine. “I might. I want to see something first though.”
“See what?” I ask, feeling that strange connection that seems to always be between us these days.
“What are you doing this evening?”
I shrug. “Just studying.”

He reaches up and strokes his fingers over my check. “Want to get a head start on the sex class?”
“You mean, going all the way this time?” I ask quietly.
He nods, his eyes are searching my face as if he’s looking at me for the first time. “Yes.”
I swallow hard. “Okay.”
“I want to take our time. I want to see if these feelings between us strengthen even more, T.”
He seems so confident, so sure that it helps to settle my nerves. I thought I’d be over the nerves by now, but things just feel so different this time around.
“I think they will,” I say and that’s the biggest reason for my nerves. I don’t understand what’s happening between us.
“I do too. Let’s test that theory and then afterwards, I want to talk about what it might mean.”
“Did you talk to the guys about it?” I ask.
“I did. I’ll tell you all about it, I promise. But first, I want to test my theory.”
His eyes return to mine. “Do you trust me?”
I smile at him. “I absolutely do.”
He smiles too. “Good.”
He sets me on my feet and takes my hand.

I don’t know why, but it feels like we’re about to cross some invisible barrier, something that, once crossed, we can never return from.
I just hope that’s a good thing.
