Aaron walked out his fingers laced with Jaimie's. Sam hid her face in Blake's chest as more pain sliced through her. Why couldn't she and Blake have that? Damaged. Her brain told her. She was beyond repair now.

Jaimie sat on the coffee table across from Blake and Sam. "Sammy, can you look at me?"

Sam moved her head a little bit but only revealed one eye to Jaimie.

"I know this is painful but I need you to tell me what happened."

Sam shook her head, this was unbearable.

Jaimie turned to Aaron. "Can you give us a few minutes Babe?"

Aaron took in a ragged breath. "I'll just be outside.

He strolled over to the door and walked out. He had no idea how to even begin to be there for Sam.

Jaimie tried again. "Sammy, I know this is painful and hard but we can get through this together, all three of."

"Can't you just ask questions?" Blake asked as he cuddled Sam more.

"It'd be better if she'd talk about it." Jaimie looked at them sympathetically.

Sam hid her face against Blake's chest as she began. "Me and Blake had a fight, I went for a walk, when I stopped I heard something snap," she continued the story as she clung to Blake tightly. She shivered against him when she was finally done telling Jaimie everything.

"Blake, take her to the hospital, get her checked out, I think she'll be okay as long as you're there with her. Sammy, I'm sorry we didn't get this guy in time but you're really safe now." Jaimie squeezed her shoulder gently and headed out of the house.

Blake rubbed Sam's back. "Let's get you cleaned up." He whispered. He got up from the couch and carried her upstairs.

Aaron turned as Jaimie came out of the house. He turned away ashamed of himself.

Jaimie laid a hand on his shoulder and stepped in front of him a little. "She's okay Aaron, Blake's taking care of her now."

"I don't know how to take care of her, I don't know what to do Jaimie." Aaron sighed as he pulled her into him.

"Blake does, he knows what she needs Aaron, I'm glad you've let him be a part of her life, he'll take care of her, he'll take her to the hospital." Jaimie rubbed his back as he held onto her.

"What all happened, please tell me he didn't." His voice was shaky.

"No according to Blake and Sammy he didn't."

Sam slowly moved to the other side of the tub.

Blake began to scrub the blood from his body and hair. He got out of the tub and began to dry off. He wrapped the fluffy blue towel around his waist and pulled Sam out of the tub. He dried her gently then helped her into her clothes.

He headed downstairs with Sam. "I'm going to get a pair of Aaron's clothes then we'll go." He got a shirt, jeans, and socks got dressed. He gathered Sam into his arms to head for the front door. He plucked her keys from the hooks by the door. He got to her truck, placed her down on the passenger seat. He made his way over to the driver's side.

They finally got to the hospital. Blake picked her up and headed inside. The staff checked her in. the smell was bothersome to Sam, too sterile for her.

Blake stayed beside Sam the whole time. He kept a hold of her hand rubbing it gently.

The doctor came in. "Alrighty, what happened?" He asked but his face dropped when he came into the room. The poor woman was bruised, some bleeding. His eyes landed on the man holding her hand. "Blake?" He gasped out.

Blake stood up quickly when his eyes landed on the doctor. "D-dad?"

Sam looked from the young man standing beside her to the older man standing across from her at the end of the uncomfortable hospital bed. Both tan, same soft brown eyes, same nose, long and narrow, handsome striking features. She was so confused.

"What did you do now?" The older man asked in shock.

Sam's eyes flew to Blake. She felt his body tense beside her. "He didn't do this to me." She found the strong voice that had left her. The strength that left her came back as she grasped his rough tan hand. "He saved me."
