I chuckled again as I waved her off when deep inside, my heart was rejoicing.
"I'm simply fulfilling my duty as the Alpha."
I muttered and immediately I recalled one of Uncle Walker's talks about responsibilities and duties of an Alpha. This was it, the sacrifices I had to make just to ensure my Pack Members are happy.
The door quietly opened while My Beta, Gabriel stepped in. The smile on his face reduced as he sighted both of us.
"Good Morning, Alpha." He lucidly greeted with a slight bow. "I believe your personal Delta isn't giving you any problems?"
"No she isn't." I smiled at him before exchanging glances with Rose.
"You may take your leave." I said to her while she nodded. We both arose from our chairs but just before she left my side, I pulled her wrist so her beautiful face were only inches away from mine. Without thoughts, my head slowly closed the distance between us. And with Gabriel's exclaiming eyes fixated at us, I placed a soft kiss on her cheek.
She blushed, I smiled and Gabriel's mouth went agape. I watched as she elegantly toured out of my room before focusing on my Beta, whose shock were clearly dancing on his face.
"So..." Gabriel chuckled nervously. "I didn't know you guys bonded on a whole new level."
I feigned a superficial smile but deep inside, Lupus was crazily battling me for my actions. I kissed a lady, one who wasn't my mate and yes it felt wrong.
"You wanna know how Rose and I bonded or tell me why you're here?" I asked.
He heaved a sigh while sternness dawned on his countenance.
"We can save Rose story for later but now, it's time for work."
"What work?" I responded quizzically.
"This work." My mouth dropped in horror as Gabriel pointed to large chunks of white labeled files carefully arranged on my desk. In my official Alpha office.
"I hope you like your office though." He added while I toured around the medium sized room. Adorned with fine walls of spotless white, a luxurious wooden shelf rooted by the wall which beheld several old antiques, a black desk with one swivel chair and two wooden chairs.
None of these was up to my taste! In fact, I'm not sure I have any taste. All I could focus on as I sat upon my swivel was the chunks of files laced on my table.
"When you mentioned work, I never thought I would be dealing with files like a businessman." I scorned with harsh glare fixated at the files.
"As you can see, this files are separated in columns," Gabriel chuckled as he sat on one of the wooden chair opposite me. I rolled my eyes, noticing the four columns. The thought of working on them alone was a nightmare!
"This ones," he directed his hand to the first column. "They're files regarding pack members who wants to leave our pack."
I frowned not from Gabriel's cold voice but the fact that a large number of people actually wanted to leave.
I sighed. If it had been days ago I would have scoffed but now, things had changed. The Pack I didn't want to care for was slowly climbing it's way into my heart.
"Just do this work for me, as a friend." I pleaded while he sighed.
"I'll only do half of this files for you on one condition." He proposed while I arched an eyebrow upwards. "You have to meet with the elders today for our inauguration ceremony as the Alpha and Beta of Greenville Pack."
"But everybody already knows--"
"It is a mandatory tradition!" He cut me off.
I heaved another sigh, if getting half of this boring files off my desk was to participate in a stupid ceremony tonight then it's fine.
I nodded slowly while a bright smile instantly surged on my Beta's face.
"One more thing," I mentioned with my gaze holding his. "I want you to release Jerry." I stated as I arose from my swivel, walking towards the door.
"Why?"
"You'll understand sooner or later."
