"Kevin is going to be the new Lycan."

"Father, I implore you to rethink your decision." I had said while he turned to me, his predatory look already replaced with care and admiration.

"Kevin never wanted to be Alpha let alone be Lycan. I'm not sure he's the right --"

"He is the Wolf of Justice, Claire. The moon goddess chose him for a reason and this is it."

He pursed his lips.

"Are you doing this out of guilt or pity or because he his simply the Wolf of Justice and nothing more to you?" I asked while my Father heaved a sigh as he joined me back on the bedside.

"If it were out of guilt, I would have given him wealth, power and any other thing he desires. I'm not making Kevin the new Lycan because of guilt nor because he's a special Wolf." He paused as his gaze returned to my mother's portrait. He carried a smile I couldn't quite depict but I knew he was in deep thoughts. Thinking of the right words.

"Ever since your mother's death, I already knew Blake couldn't be the next Lycan. My spirit never for once was intrigued by your brother being the next Lycan. It was you I had in mind. But all that changed the moment I met Kevin. I know he isn't perfect nor the most Noble but my spirit wants him to be my heir. From the very moment he stepped into our house, I felt that spark, Claire. That assertion."

He held my gaze so I found it hard to waver from those blue eyes of his.

"He looks promising, Claire and I don't know why I feel this certain. But it's my wish and I want you to support that."

"Yes." I affirmed. His smile deepened.

"Then everything is going to be fine between the two of you." He paused. "Yes, things are currently so rough between you two but with time, your mate bond will surely bring both of you together."

I smiled sadly at myself in the mirror in my room as I reminisced on our last conversation. I didn't even get to say a proper goodbye, I didn't get the chance to tell him one more time, how great a father he had been to me. I heaved an heavy sigh and immediately, my thoughts diverted to Kevin. Our child was the perfect signal for me to give him a chance. To ascertain within myself that my mate wasn't my father's murderer. Rather it was my twin brother, Blake.

And somehow, I believed Kevin's words. A part of me knew my brother would do anything to become the Lycan but I didn't think he would stoop this low. I toured out of my bathroom and towards my wardrobe. I pulled it open and went for it's bay, where a secret safe was built. And after few seconds of struggle, I finally pulled them out. The Royal ancestral scroll. A tear could have dropped on my cheek but my eyes were already tired and hurting from so much crying.
