Do it, nothing else you're doing is working, Phoenix snarls at me, nearing the end of his rope as we approach the end of the third month of Penelope's coma. My father hasn't been in to see her once which I'm now grateful for – Phoenix and I feel extremely protective of Penelope and carefully monitor who gets in to see her. I know some think it is too little, too late but it is all we can control right now so we're doing the little we can.

"Moon Goddess," I start as I sit at Penelope's bedside holding her hand in mine. The sparks literally fly between us as our mate bond reminds me of everything I let go to waste – my time with her, any chance I had with her... her. My voice is soft, nearly a whisper as I make my plea.

We could have had this feeling every day, Phoenix whimpers before going silent again, mentally turning his back on me.

"If Penelope is with you, Moon Goddess – please, send her back to us. I promise I will let her return home if she wants, she can reject me – whatever she wants, I'll do it. I know I screwed up and threw the beautiful gift you gave me in your face and I'm sorry, so sorry – I'm prepared to accept the consequences so long as you spare Penelope, please... she doesn't deserve any of this," I whisper, tears streaming down my cheeks by the end.

Prayer. I've resorted to prayer since modern day, medical science doesn't seem to be doing the trick... Penelope isn't or maybe doesn't want to return from wherever she is. Knowing I'm responsible for her being in this hospital bed is eating me up inside so yes, selfishly I want her to recover but I also need her to wake up.

I need her to wake up to save my soul.

She doesn't deserve me as a mate.

Shit, no one does.

Sigh....
