She read aloud, "Surprised? My wife loved surprises. I'm starting to miss the poor woman so let's make a trade. My wife for the child."
My face paled fifty shades of brown as I thought about the 'wife' that was mentioned in the letter. He wanted Tiana!?
Liza's face looked sickly as she nervously chuckled, "he wouldn't mind if we sent her back to him in a body bag right?"
I shot her a pointed glare to which she sighed and ran a hand down her face in exasperation. You could see on her face that she was worried shitless for the little girl that she suddenly became close to.
There was no telling what she was enduring right now as we speak, and our situation wasn't the best either as we couldn't give what Michael was asking for.
"What are we gonna do now?" Liza asked me in frustration.
I ran a hand down my face and closed my eyes, thinking of a solution. Trading was definitely not an option but if we were to tell him we already killed his wife, what would be his reaction? Would he kill Bea? Why did he even choose Bea as a target in the first place?
A long sorrowful howl suddenly pierced the air and caused our heads to snap towards the window in surprise.
Following that howl came a few more as the wolves cried out to the sky above them, wishing... no, desperately hoping that Bea was okay.
"Dawson..." Liza muttered to herself worriedly as she stared out at the forest outside.
"Precious," Axil's weary voice suddenly sounded in my mind.
"Yes?" I replied.
"Meet back at the police station. We'll figure out how to get Bea back, I promise."
By the sound of things, I could tell that he had already intruded on my mind and learned everything that I had learned.
"Alright."
I turned to Liza and put out my hand, "Let me see the note so I can see if there's anything else on the paper. We've got to head back to the police station."
As my fingers grazed the tip of the note, a gasp suddenly escaped my lips as I felt myself being tugged from reality and deep into my own mind.
I began to feel dizzy as my body swayed before tumbling to the ground. I could barely feel as someone caught me in their embrace.
Images were flashing in my mind so fast that I could barely make out what it was that they were showing me. Each image came and went in under a second and it took a while before everything slowly started slowing down.
I suddenly found myself gazing at Bea, who was laying in bed a few minutes before her disappearance, her eyes closed as she hummed herself to sleep.
The scene blurred in and out of focus as I saw Bea turn around in bed and smile innocently at absolutely nothing in front of her.
"Are you staying with me today?" She asked.
