Layla POV:

I sat on my bed crying all night that night. I couldn't face anyone, I was so embarrassed.

"Sweetheart?" I heard my mother's soft voice from the door. I quickly wiped my eyes and looked at her. "Hey, mom." I said.

She smiled warmly at me and sat next to me on the bed. "How are you, baby?" She asked me. My lip began to quiver. "I don't know momma. I saw Sin's wolf yesterday. He and my wolf..." I could barely continue.

"They're in love. It's normal." Mom said. "Then why doesn't Sin want me?" I asked. "I don't know, Layla. But I will tell you one thing." She started.

I crossed my legs, faced her and waited for her to continue.

"The bond between mates is too strong to resist. Tell me something. When was the last time you felt..." She didn't finish, because I knew what she meant.

"It's been a few days." I said, realization dawning on me. "What happened at school today?" She asked. This woman was tok smart for her own good.

"Hey wanted to talk to me about last night. I yelled at him. I'm just tired of him hurting me." I told her. "He's giving in to the bond and he doesn't even know it yet, baby. He will realize his mistake." She assured me.

I sadly smiled at her. "No offence, mom, but this didn't happen with you and daddy. He fell in love with you right away." I told her.

She smiled, no doubt in my mind she was thinking back to that day nearly 20 years ago. My parents loved each other more than I could imagine. I just wish I had what they have.

I looked down at my hands. "Sometimes I just wish we had free will to pick our own mates, you know? I hate feeling empty and alone every day, knowing he doesn't love me. I hate knowing he'd rather sleep with other people instead of his mate. I know his wolf loves me but.." I stopped before I started to cry again.

Mom sighed and hugged me. "I know it hurts, baby. I'll tell you something though. Not long before I got pregnant with you, your daddy was taken away from me by a pack of rouges." She said as my head snapped up to her.

"Shut your fucking mouth!" Was that Sin? Of course it was.

Whoever he was yelling at, was confused.

"What's your problem. You straight up laughed when I told you I fucked Cindy." My heart dropped to my stomach.

"There's a difference! Layla isn't like that!" Sin yelled. My eyes widened. He was taking up for me.... Again?

"You said yourself, you're the one and done type of guy right? What's wrong with letting me have a turn?" The guy asked. What?

"No!" Sin spat at him and slammed him against the wall. "Why?" The guy said, getting angry. "Because Layla is my mate!"
