Lucas POV:

This war between the wolves and humans had been getting harder to handle. My sister, Layla and her mate Sin Fisher's pack was attacked a few months back and Layla almost lost her life protecting her new born pup, Lana. The doctor had told us if we had found her three minutes later, we would have been too late.

Since the death of LaurieAnne Fisher, hunters had been relentless and killed thousands of wolves.

This war has changed me in ways that some days I don't even recognize myself in the mirror.

I was headed to the New Moon pack for a meeting with Alpha Drew Smith about hunters stalking the borders of numerous packs.

We weren't on ecilent terms at the moment so this would take some convincing. I was lucky that the man agreed to meet with me.

Charlie POV:

I was cleaning the kitchen after breakfast, which I got very little of when my father came storming in.

"Charlotte, this place better be spotless by this evening. Alpha Cross will be joining us. I don't want any disturbances. Understood?" He asked harshly.

"Yes, sir." I replied softly.

I was beginning to think that I was never going to get out of this place. Soon after high school, I got excepted to MIT. My father found the acceptance letter that had been sent and immidiatly contacted them saying I was unable to join them, causing someone else to get my spot in the university.

I begged my dad to call them back but all that got me was a beating from him and lecture from my mother.

I sighed quietly and walked toward my room.

Not long after I went to my room the front door was knocked on and as soon as I heard voices, I smelled the most amazing scent of vanilla and cinnamon.

I couldn't stop myself. My mate was here and I was desperate to meet him. I didn't care if my father beat me for it.

I stopped short at the stairs when I saw a tall man, with brown hair and the most beautiful blue eyes I'd ever seen. He looked up at me and froze.

"Alpha Cross?" My father said confused.

"Mate." We whispered.
