Lucas POV:

The next few days had busy. My mom and sister had been training Charlie which was going very well. She was finally gaining weight and was much stronger than she was when I brought her home.

We were out on the field when the alarms started to sound.

"Everyone get to your homes now!" I yelled. "Yes, Alpha." All the members that were out said in unison.

I took Charlie's hand and lead her inside.

"Baby, I need you to stay here with mom and Layla, okay?" I told her. "Lucas, what's going on?" She asked. "Hunters are close to the border." I replied.

"You aren't going out there, are you?" She asked, worriedly. "I have to, Charlie." I told her. She instantly hugged me as tight as she could.

"Come back to me." She whispered. "I will. I promise." I said before giving her a gentle kiss. "I love you." I blurted out.

She smiled widely at me. "I love you, too." She replied. I kissed her again before leaving with Adrien behind me.

Charlie POV:

"Please, be careful." Layla told Sin. "I will, sweetheart. I'll be back before you know it." He said before giving her a kiss.

Sadie, Layla and I watched as our mates went out to fight the hunters.

I had tears welling up in my eyes. "Do you ever get the feeling they may never come back?" I asked. "Every day." Sadie told me, weakly.

"They always do though." Layla said, trying to stay hopeful.

I ran my hands through my hair roughly, trying to stay calm. "I'm going to call Sandy and see how the pack is holding up." Layla said before walking away.

"Who's Sandy?" I asked. "My niece. She's also the gamma female of Layla's pack." Sadie replied.

Lucas POV:

Sin, dad, Adrien and I shifted once we got to the border and put our noses to the ground. The scent of hunters were everywhere. Goddess only knows how many are out there.

I heard a snap coming from my right and saw a hunter pointing a silver arrow at my father. "Dad!" I yelled through the link before pouncing on the human, snapping his neck.

"No need. I can take care of this." Charlie said. "Really? How?" Then it hit me. She has probably done this for herself more than once. "Actually, don't tell me." I continued.

I watched as Charlie's steady hands went to work on Adrien. She's amazing.

"All done." She said while she cleaned the blood from his leg and wrapping it up. "Should be healed in a few days." She continued before washing her hands.

"Just when I thought you couldn't be more amazing." I told her before kissing her cheek.

Charlie POV:

A few hours later, after everyone settled down, I checked on Adrien. "How's the patient?" I asked. "Better. You're awesome, Charlie." He said.

"Let's go home, baby. I could use some rest." Lucas said. "Me, too." I replied before letting him lead me to the car.

"You continue to surprise me, Charlotte Smith." Lucas said, smiling. "Why's that?" I asked. "You stepped up to help your pack member without question. You did your job as a Luna." He replied, proudly.

I looked at my hands and smiled. "You did your job as a Luna." Repeated in my head. I couldn't describe how it made me feel.
