Steven chuckled. "Good morning, wife."

Goodness, Angela tried not to let his action affect her. Truthfully, he did. Of course, he did. Her ex-husband was the only man who was capable of arousing her even with only his hypnotizing stare. She just didn't want to let him know that.

She turned the burner off and opened the overhead cupboard. Unfortunately, her small height hindered her from reaching the plates she needed. Not even on her tip toes. But she'd rather go mute than ask Steven for his help.

"Allow me." Before even Angela's stubborn thought passed her mind, in one effortless move, Steven reached for the plates himself. "You're welcome."

All the while, Angela felt the heat radiating from the closeness of his body. Her gaze automatically fell on the exposed chest a few inches before her. Goodness, he was still amazing. More than amazing. He was gorgeous. Sexy. And why was she thinking like that? "Go put on a shirt."

"Is that an order?" Steven inquired amusingly.

"Yes." Her voice hadn't come out that demanding and convincing. She cleared her throat. "Daniel might wake up."

"Oh." Steven had been enjoying himself teasing Angela that for a moment he forgotten about Daniel. He had purposely came out of his bedroom in just his underwear. He wanted to see Angela's expression. He wanted to see if he could still arouse her with just giving her a peek at his body. That morning, he had confirmed that. "You're right. I'll go."

As Steven had returned to his bedroom, Angela took a deep breathe. Oh, dear. Since the day she was back to living with Steven, he had tried to seduce her more than once. She didn't want to fall for him again. Not after all the heartache he had caused her. Yet she knew that he still had the power to make her fall. And she feared that. Her own body was capable to betray her own mind and senses when it came to Steven.

The ringtone coming from the phone Steven had left on the kitchen counter startled Angela from her reverie. Luckily. She was thinking too much about Steven lately.

She returned to serving their breakfast when Steven hurried in. In the single minute, he had been gone, he only had the chance to put on just a shirt. And the white shirt wasn't even buttoned.

Deliberately leaning to the counter an inch away from her, Steven answered his call. "Good morning. I'll be at the office in an hour. No, I'm still at my place, why? What?" Any form of a smile vanished entirely as he listened intently to the caller. "Yes. Yes, I understand. Keep me informed alright? Okay, I will." And he hung up.

Steven walked toward the sofa, tugging Angela with him. He needed to sit down. Angela's hand he kept in his. A nervous breath released from his mouth. "My office building has been vandalized. The vandals destroyed the main area. My guards barely managed to hold them from reaching the elevator. Nobody got hurt though." His leg quivered queasily. "I think it's time I increase my security."

"What did you do?" The fear in Angela's voice was suddenly replaced with a commanding tone.

"I just bought a new piece of land." Steven responded easily.

"And?" Angela knew him enough to know Steven was a man who made rash decisions, knew that he was ruthless and cared only of the outcome for himself. "Who were the vandals? What did you do to them?" She sensed the attacks weren't random.

"I done nothing to them. The land I bought had been abandoned for so long nobody even wanted it. Only the homeless were interested in it. Made it their home for free."
