She nodded her head in his hands. "I would."
Steven grinned widely. "Thank you, Angela. I know I don't deserve this chance."
For the second time that day, he had thanked her. She liked this Steven better. The hand she had on his arm went up to his shoulder. Her other hand set on his other shoulder. "No. No, you don't. You definitely don't."
Steven was smiling like crazy. She was finally granting him a chance with Daniel. Angela, too, was smiling. He really wanted his chance with his son. For a moment, they just stood there. Steven's arms around her waist. Angela's hands on his shoulder.
Until, Angela rose up on her toes to level her head with his, to reach her lips close to his. His head leaned down and their lips met. And they kissed like it was their first kiss. Slow and oh, so breathtaking.
It was Steven who ended their moment. He looked deep at her eyes glistening with warmth. Ran his thumb over her rosy lips. "It's late. We should get some sleep."
Angela nodded her agreement lightly. Lowered back on her flat feet.
"Do you...", Steven began tentatively. "Do you maybe want to share my bed? I promise I won't touch you."
Again, Angela could only gesture her head up and down in reply. She trusted he wouldn't touch her if he said so. He kept his word always.
Steven's hand entwined with hers and escorted them to his room.
Angela was supposed to be spectating Daniel and his team playing against another group of boys but she was more lost in her own world of thoughts than watching the game.
For the past few days, Angela had been sleeping in Steven's bed. True to his word, he never touched her. He never even brushed his skin to hers. At times they would catch each other staring at the other and they'd pretend they were sleeping. Steven would wake up before his alarm goes off. He'd already be dressed and set for work when the alarm awakens Angela. Then, Angela would prepare the same breakfast each day while Steven prepared the coffee.
It would be Steven the one who awakened Daniel from his sleep. Angela not once argued about it. She was giving him his space with Daniel. She wanted to allow him to have his time with Daniel. Until breakfast would be ready, Steven and the boy would play or watch TV or tell stories. Impressively enough, Steven would ignore the chimes of his phone while he was with Daniel unless it was a call from his assistant. Angela had once heard him instructing his assistant to only call him while he was still at home if it was urgent.
If Angela could, she'd spend a whole day watching Steven and Daniel together. She knew it wouldn't be long before she'd have to introduce Daniel to Steven as his father. She realized Steven might have already convinced her he could be a father to her son.
"I couldn't sleep." Angela admitted.
"Me neither. Had a million thoughts on my head."
"Yea. Me too." Angela spoke when she met his eyes. Oh, dear. Were they talking about the same thoughts? If he was, how could he stay that calm while her own heart was beating twice the norm?
Steven flicked back the hair cascading on her shoulder. He couldn't help but wonder if she had let her hair down because she wanted to or because she knew he liked it that way. "Were any of your thoughts about me?"
"Most of them... Yours?" Angela gulped at her last word.
"All of them about you."
