"Oh, really? Now that make the whole thing all better." Steven exclaimed with much sarcasm. "But my point still remains the same. He was in our bed."
Angela shook her head in surrender. "No use arguing with you. You've already said your final word with the divorce papers." Angela said as her own final words while stepping away from him. "Which one is my room?"
"Second door. Right next to my bedroom." Steven smirked teasingly. Oh, he was enjoying that moment. Finally he had the chance to get back on her for cheating on him.
His smirk had always managed to make Angela's heart skip a beat. He was alluring and he had somehow become even more impossibly handsome. He still kept his body in shape. Or did he get even buffer? Oh dear, she shouldn't be thinking about that. Especially not when he was opening the door to her new room and inviting her to walk in before him.
Her bedroom was huge. It was twice as big as the whole place she lived in. The bed alone was as big as the whole kitchen.
"You should take a warm bath. You must have been dreaming of one." Steven suggested.
From where she stood, Angela could see the extra large bath through the ajar door of the en-suite and as much as she longed for a bath, she didn't want to give Steven the satisfaction that he was right. "I never dreamt of anything from my life back here."
"Not even about me? Not once?" A finger of his trailed up and down her arm, to tease her.
Angela pulled her arm back as if he had shocked her. "No. As much as you would like to hear that, no, I didn't dream about you."
"Like I'd ever believe that." His fingers brushed over the goosebumps on her arms that he had caused. "You dreamt about me even when I laid in the same bed with you. I can't imagine how much more you've dreamt about me beside you when I wasn't."
He was right. She was never able to get him out of her mind. Until the very day he had showed up in her life again, she had thought about him. More than once had she dreamt about his body entwined with hers. More than once had she called out his name in the middle of the night.
"Now that you're here, you know I could make your dream a reality." His eyes glowed with arousal. Angela remembered that look so well. His face began lowering towards hers.
She ducked from him and crossed the room to distance herself from him. His laughter echoed behind her. Goodness, his laugh was still the same sexy one. Her heart began beating faster. If she hadn't escape as quickly as she did, his lips could have been on hers. Oh, dear. As much as she hated to admit it, in only the first few minutes she'd been there, Steven Morris was already proving to be as irresistible as he'd always been.
Steven looked away from her. He knew if gazed at her for another second, he'd accept her request without a word. And he didn't want that. He didn't want her to affect him. And over and above that he didn't want her to ever go back to that place.
"At least let me call them." Angela begged. "Just one call."
Steven couldn't bar himself from thinking about it. As much as he hated to admit, Angela and her innocent looking green eyes had gotten to him. Long seconds later, he fished his phone from his trousers. Angela reached for it with a wide grin but he held it back. "You're not going to call Tony, are you?"
She shook her head. "I'm not. I'm never going to call him."
Somehow, Steven believed her which worried him more than if she said she was calling Tony. He rarely believed anyone. Especially not an ex-something of his.
With a warning tilt of his head, Steven allowed her to take the phone. His eyes stayed on her as she sat on the bed and worked the phone. As he watched her, he struggled to keep himself composed and not let Angela affect his body. She was biting on her bottom lip like she always did when she was nervous. In the past he would have eased her nervousness with his own teeth biting on her bottom lip instead. He held himself from doing that at that moment.
