Angela scoffed. "It's not like I said something you don't already know. You know you look good. You always knew that. You've always been good-looking and rugged and big and strong and -" She was cut off with his insanely sexy laugh. "What are you laughing at?"
"You. You're babbling about my body."
"Oh." Was she? Oh, yes, she was. Oh, God. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that. I didn't-"
"Shut up and eat, Angie, before I build an appetite for more than bacon and eggs." Steven spoke amused.
Angela pried her eyes away from his body. She had always thought that he was the sexiest when he woke up. His hair was still askew from his sleep, his grey eyes glistened with freshness and his shoulders were relaxed from the empty stress level of a new day.
"Stop staring and eat, Angie. I promise I'll let you stare at me later but now you have to eat. You ate nothing since you've been here. Go on and eat."
Angela didn't need to be told again. Her stomach was growling. Like a famished tiger, she bit on the toast and stuffed her mouth with a mixture of scrambled eggs and baked beans. She expected Steven to be watching her devour the plate with a grimace on his face. But he wasn't. His face was soft when he passed her a napkin to wipe the beans sauce running down her chin.
The sound of the elevator door opening saved her from any more humiliation.
Unashamedly in just his underpants, Steven went to greet the men who delivered twenty plus large glossy shopping bags and a dozen boxes. Angela kept her focus on her food rather than at Steven's rugged body.
"Come, Angela. This delivery is for you." Steven remarked when they were alone again.
Angela put the last of her toast into her mouth and tiptoed beside Steven. If it wasn't for the food in her mouth, her jaw would have dropped. "Are these all new clothes for me?"
"Go on, have a look. I ordered them in a size smaller than your usual. You got skinnier."
Angela leaned to peer into the bags. She had forgotten the last she'd seen a brand label. And Steven had gone overboard. He had bought her the best ones. And he got her everything - from casual clothes to going-out dresses. He even got her underwear but she daren't look at those. Not while Steven was right beside her.
Though Steven wouldn't have really noticed. He was more focused on the shirt she wore. More specifically at the hem that had raised to her buttocks as she leaned forward. And oh, crap, he couldn't look any longer. Half her butt was exposed. And she wasn't wearing any underwear! He wondered if she was doing it intentionally. No, she wouldn't. She was so innocent. Or had been. He wondered if he was the only one who ever saw her pert butt beneath just a shirt.
Angela raised one brow in warning.
"Alright, I'll stop mentioning Tony." He pronounced the man's name with emphasis. "I have to get ready for work anyway."
As Steven began his walk to his bedroom, the elevator bell binged again. To both their surprise, it was Angela's father with a dapper man in tow.
"Good morning Mr. and Mrs. Morris." Jack Marshall announced brightly with a big grin as he took in the attire of Steven and Angela. "Did we interrupt?"
Angela couldn't help but grimace at her father. Even more so when she saw him wink at the seemingly uncomfortable man beside him. She stretched the shirt she wore down her legs. At that moment, she felt as humiliated as she would have been if she was stark naked.
"Marshall." Steven greeted him stunned yet still polite. "What are you doing here so early? And with Mr. Jones? Our meeting isn't for another hour. And not here."
Jack Marshall was quick to take a step before Mr. Jones could speak up. "True but Jones called me to postpone to a later time and since my schedule is full for the day I thought why not do it earlier. So seeing as I was just going to pass by to visit my daughter, I asked Jones if he wanted to join me for coffee here." He turned to Angela with a smile pasted on his face. "You look bright this morning my dear. Finally coming back home to your husband did you good." He leaned to Mr. Jones. "Her aunt was sick. My Angela was taking care of her for a while."
