So I had to leave the party with an excuse of having a stomach upset and headache which made me feel so terribly bad after seeing the amount of worry glazed over my grandma's eyes.
All this was for what? The TV show that's coming up right about now.
As I key in to the T.v station, I can't help but wonder what was so important about the show that I had to see or hear tonight. But for my dad, I watch it anyway.
'Welcome to your favourite show!!
I'm still your host Diane and tonight, I have with me on the show a very special guest.
One of the pillers of the business world. She said pusing for effect.
"Some call him the God of A.I " The host of the show then continued with a perfect picture worthy smile which showed years of mastery.
"You all probably already know who it is. She bobed again her energy so intense and full of life. It was contagious. So it was no wonder that right now the audience were going wild, screaming joyfully and clapping in anticipation.
" Join me as we welcome, the charismatic, handsome, did I say handsome? Hot, very hot young billionaire of our time in person of Jackson Westfield-Partrick!!!! She exclaimed as the camera draws it focus on a familiar figure that walks in with radiant confidence and poise.
Is it possible for him to look even more Handsome than I already knew him to be? 'cause right now on my tv screen is a very edible Jack flashing a smile at the audience, but then with the way the camera captures it, it looks like he was flashing a knowing smile at me...
He wasn't on his business suit.
He had on a white shirt that huged his frame perfectly with a few of its top buttons undone. Which made me frown in displeasure. His hair was made to look like he put little to no effort into styling it. All in all, he didn't look like regal business man he always seem to be while at work, but a regular good looking guy you can approach and relate with.
The crowd in the room went wild as they all smiled enthusiastically ushering him in.
"Welcome Mr Westfield. Good to have you honour us with your presence. But before we go into the business for the night, please say hello to the audience and people at home." The host said to him.
Thank you Diane for having me on your show. It's a honor to be here. Good evening everyone. Thank you, thank you for your love and support over the years that as brought Evolution to where it is today.
Trust me when I say I wouldn't be here without you and for that, you are all appreciated. He said with a smooth, clam voice. That felt like feathery kisses to my ears.
"Oh God, did you guys hear that voice?! Music I tell you! music to the hears."
Diane squealed excitedly like a high school girl that had her crush talk to her for the first time. Looking at how wild the crowd was going and how they boobed their head in agreement, I realized that she wasn't the only school girl, she was just their leader.
"Thank you once again for honoring my invitation on such short notice. I have heard how hard it is to have you personally come for interiews over the years. Many probably hardly know the face behind the billion dollar empire.
"Do you have a reason for staying away from all the lime light where you truly belong Mr Westfield." She asked finally moving to business.
"Thank you Diane. Please just call me Jack.
I'll simply say that before all this fame, I was a man from a humble background who loved his privacy and chooses to put family first.
So being in the lime light would only take away my privacy. Besides it's the company that is famous and not me. I'm just one man out of the numerous great minds putting in their blood and soul into making Evolution corps what it is today. I'm not deserving of all the glory." He explained, earning series of applause for the audience and a proud smile from me.
"You heard it straight from the man himself people!
He is just one man amongst the many great minds. I love how down to earth you are Jack, not so may greatmen think the way you do." She commended.
Jack, going back to what you said earlier about putting family first, are you finally planning on starting a family of your own with Nora considering the baby.? She asked making me hold my breath. I was loving the show until this huge elephant was placed in the room.
"I am indeed planning to start a family of my own but without wanting to hurt anyone feelings, it's not with Nora." He said without batting his eyes. This revelation appeared to surprise every one as all the audience seem to have go silent from shock. Even I was surprised with this public declaration. I expected him to shy away from it or answer in a vague way. By the way Diane's eye were poping out of their sockets with mouth ajar I knew she wasn't expecting such direct reply either.
"Ooooh, this is something... Not with Nora? Forgive me, for saying this But you guys were once engaged and you seemed so in love. So this baby should be able to clear what ever misunderstanding you guys had or is there something that we all don't know that we should know? She asked curiosity written all over her face. I'm starting to have a dislike for this woman. I had anxiety written all over my face. My heart beaten so fast. How would my dad answer that question? He cant possibly say he has doubt the baby isn't his. That would make him look bad because there is no prove Nora cheated. So he will look like a bastard making excuses to shy away from responsibility. Plus he can't also say he is in love with his daughter, or his adopted sister as they all see me as. So what will he do now? I stared at the screen waiting for him to respond to her questions with fingers crossed.
"Just like you said, we were engaged but not anymore. That wont change because she is pregnant.
Nora is a beautiful soul inside out and I'm sorry it had to end this way, but I'll rather it ended sooner than later. For the sake of her happiness and mine. I will take full responsibility of my child but that's all." He said making it feel like all my worries was for nothing. I let out a breath I didn't know I held. He had answered the question without giving a clear answer. The reason for the break up was not clearly stated. Nora was made to look good and with the promise of taking responsibility of his child, he hadn't lost all his charm yet.
"I probably would be the only courageous one in the room to ask the question on everyone's mind." The audacious host start talking again.
"If it's not Nora then who is she? She asked.
Now he faces the camera and with his signature smile he said;
"Let's just say she owns me and she knows it. She is not just the center of my universe, she is my universe. Beautiful blues that I'll gladly drown in without much thought." He concluded with a boyish grin.
"When you see the lunching, know that my proposal got accepted and I'm no longer a bachelor. I hope it's sooner than later. He told them. Earning another series of applause.
At this point, when I thought nothing he says would surprise me, I was proven wrong. This man would be the death of me tonight.
"Whoever she is, she is so lucky to have you." Diane said with a huge grin.
" No, I'm the lucky one" Dad said with a smile looking at the camera like he was talking to me instead of Diane.
"Awwe so sweet. She said with a lovely smile that made her look much younger than she already looked for someone her age. She indeed is a beautiful woman.
"Alright, since we are talking about your love for family we got wind that today is your parents wedding anniversary. I cant help but feel guilty for holding you up here when you should be with them celebrating their love." She said looking guilty.
"Oh it's nothing,. They'll understand. That's what family is all about. Besides, my parents don't need my presence. They probably are going to take themselves to some highland in the middle of nowhere doing God knows what." He said with a grim look making the whole room laugh at his expense.
"You can't blame them though. They are two people in love. I'm sure you understand." she said giving him a wink.
" It's so not the same" he argued back. Making the crowd laugh again
Oh it's been so much fun having you here on the show. If only time could go slow...But sadly, it's time to go. She said with a sad face earning depressed sounds from the crowd.
"Okay! Before we go, Jack please say a little word of advice to our youth out there."
"I'll say Don't be afraid to dream. Only dead men don't dream. What you should be afraid of is the fear that doesn't allow you to make that dream a reality that we all can partake in. It wont be easy. You'll fall, but don't forget to always rise up a stronger version of yourself. Thank you." He said with a smile.
Round of applause resonated the room.
"That was beautiful Jack. You've heard it from the giant of technology himself. Don't be afraid to dream cause only dead men don't. And that wraps up today show guys!!
Thank you once again for coming on our show. I use this opportunity to say a big shout-out to Mr and Mrs Patrick on their special day today. May their love keep growing and soaring.
My name remains Diane. Join me on the show same time same place next weekend. Have a beautiful evening. Love you all." She said with a wave. And with that the curtain was drawn.
I sat my bed still staring at the TV screen reflecting on the things revealed. I still can't bring myself to believe any of it. I felt like racing to the show to meet Jack and ask him so many questions just to be sure I wasn't hearing things back then. I couldn't do that so I had to wait. Trust me this would be the most torturous waiting.
