Chan
"Mine" The words left his lips before he could control them. His hand had already stopped his frightened, but cute mate from running away.
"Let go."
"No. Mine." Chan pulled his small mate close to him burying his face in his neck inhaling his scent profoundly and wanting to stay this way forever. However, he could feel his cute mate's shakes and soft whimpers immediately alarming Chan. Upon looking at his face Chan realized that the boy was crying.
"What do you want from me?"
"Mate. You are mine. Don't cry I won't hurt you."
"Mate?" The shorter boy looked confused while he looked at Chan.
"You smell nice." His words were meant to calm his mate. Chan could not resist pulling him into a hug again.
"Mate?" The voice was so soft, fearful. Chan wished to take away that feeling and simply held him close, the way that his mother did when she would comfort him.
"Yes. Mate." Smiling Chan's heart burst when his mate slowly wrapped his arms around him and brought himself closer to him. He liked the way he smelled and only smiled brightly when his mate buried his face in his neck. They stayed that way for a little while Chan had so many questions. Pulling away from the hug, but taking his hand instead Chan smiled.
"My name is Chan. Pen-Chan"
"Son... Chai Son" The shorter boy spoke quietly. Chan liked the pretty blush that remained on his mate's cheeks. His eyes were still teary and Chan could not resist reaching up to touch Son's face gently.
"Don't cry anymore. I'm here." Son didn't answer but instead bit his lip.
"Alpha. You're an Alpha Wolf."
"Yes. I will inherit my Clan when I'm older." Chan spoke proudly. He wanted his mate to know he would be a great husband in the future. However, Son looked genuinely frightened and pulled his hand away.
"Son." Chan watched his mate run away and, in a panic, he raced after him.
"What's wrong?" He asked when he caught up to Son who refused to look at him.
"Son?"
"How old are you?" Son asked.
"Huh?"
"How old are you?"
"Five" Once again, his answer seemed to upset his mate and Chan was unsure why.
"How old are you?" Son did not answer Chan's question. Instead, he bit his lip and looked away avoiding Chan's gaze.
"Son?..."
"Eight. I'm eight years old." Son's answer took him off guard. He was too small to be an eight-year-old. He was short and cute. Chan had simply assumed that they were the same age.
"P' I'm Sorry," Chan, felt his cheeks flush for the first time and Son was already pulling away from him again.
"Wait. P."
"Why are you being so nice to me?" Son questioned.
Son's question confused him. Chan had no idea why his cute, short P' was acting in such a way with him. All his life Chan was told being an Alpha was a good thing. Why was his mate reacting negatively?
"Is it because I'm younger P'. Even when I'm younger I can still protect you P'."
"Why?... Can't you tell what I am?" Chan was confused by Son's question. He couldn't understand Son. Son had tears in his eyes while he looked at Chan. There was a feeling in his chest that made Chan want to hold Son again. He could feel that Son was in pain, but could not understand why.
"What's wrong? Please don't cry P'." Chan reached to wipe away Son's tears and he smiled when Son leaned into his touch. Son, reached his hand up to grab at Chan's while looking at him.
"Can't you tell?... Can't you see? I'm an Omega."
"An Omega..." Chan had heard of them. Omegas were rare. His clan had only three omegas. They were small, weak, but even so, his father had taught him respect. They were their people and nothing else should matter. Looking at his small mate Chan realized then that he indeed was an omega.
Chan was aware that many people were prejudice when it came to omegas. But Chan did not care. Pulling Son close to him Chan was afraid, much like Son was. Not because his mate was an Omega but because he was sure that Son was trying to leave.
"I don't care. Please don't leave me P'. Mate is everything. Mate is forever. I will love and take care of P'Son forever." They stayed in comfortable silence for the next few minutes, simply holding each other and in their own world.
"Do you promise?" Son's voice was soft and vulnerable as he looked up at Chan.
"I promise." Without any hesitation, Chan pressed his lips against Son in a soft, and innocent kiss which caused his heart to burst. When they pulled away Son was blushing and buried his face in Chan's chest. Chan smiled down at Son and simply took his hand.
"Where are we going?" Son questioned, allowing Chan to pull him along. Chan did not speak, instead, he simply offered Son a smile. Chan took Son behind the slide and smiled at him. He was glad that they were alone and hoped that his mother would take a little longer to get back. He was looking forward to telling her that he had found his mate.
"P'Son. You are mate. You are mine and I am yours. We have met today and I won't let you go." Reaching around his neck Chan took off his necklace. It was a family heirloom passed down from generation to generation. His father had given it to him when he'd turned five. He'd explained to Chan the meaning. There was a tree in the middle and on each side was a wolf, both looking at one another. It was meant to be given to your mate as a symbol of love, unity, marriage. This crest, which was part of his family made Son his.
Placing it on Son's neck and hiding the necklace under his shirt Chan smiled.
"This is my promise P'Son. I promise to love you, care for you, and always protect you." Son smiled at Chan's words while looking down at the necklace.
"P'Son. From now on we will be linked together. Nothing will separate us. Can you promise the same?"
"Mai." Even though, Chan called out to his mother she would not look at him. It was as if she had suddenly become deaf to her child's cries.
"And you. Can you do this to your child? I have seen things. I know a lot. This will not change your future. It will only lead you down a darker path and that child...." The old woman did not finish, simply looked back at Son with sadness in her eyes.
"Do it. He is a shame to our family. The Chen Clan look down upon us because of him. He is weak and not like us." His mother's words had always been cold but these were the most hurtful words she had ever said to him.
"Put them in the circle." The old woman ordered. Both Chan and his own mother pushed them forward. Son could not think, his mother's words had made him unable to move. He found himself unable to look at her and she was not looking at him either.
"Mai! Mai! Please. Don't hurt him! Please!" Chan was pleading with his mother who continued to look ahead and beyond Chan, ignoring his tears. The old woman raised her hands up then, closed her eyes.
"It's almost midnight." Rustling was heard and the wind seemed to pick up. The moon seemed to get bigger and raise itself higher into the sky.
"I call to the spirits. I call to the night." There was a beam of light which the moon gave and the crystals around them began to glow building a forcefield around Son and Chan. Son was so scared but he could do nothing. He knew calling out to his mother was useless and it seemed Chan thought the same because he'd stopped crying and calling out to his mother.
"I call to the wind, the earth, the sky, and the moon all to align." Dark smoke began to surround both Son and Chan. It was then that Chan put Son behind him trying to protect him. He growled out and his body began to shake. It was then that he shifted into a small black wolf.
"Stay behind me" Chan growled and an aura surrounded him. It was clear that Chan was an Alpha. His energy and strength began to drip out in waves. As an Omega, Son was sure he should be falling to his knees in submission and suffocating but he wasn't. Chan moved forward trying to break free of this circle only to be pushed back by an invisible force.
"I call Pon the universe and the stars to reverse that which was made by destiny. To break this bond and this mating which is not of their choosing. I call Pon my own power to change fate and break destiny." Son could feel himself leave the ground and though he struggled he reached towards Chan who had shifted back into his human form.
"P'Son!"
"Mai, please! Chan loves P'Son! P'Son belongs to Chan! Mai!" Son could only cry while reaching out to Chan. They were so close, their fingertips could almost reach each other, just before they could, both Chan and Son were flung across opposite ends of the room. Son could feel pain as he landed on his left arm. But it was the dark mist that surrounded him and began to suffocate him and made him burn from the inside that kept him on the ground withering in pain. He could hear Chan struggle to breathe and then, the beam disappeared. There was a burn behind Son's left ear that would not go away.
"What's wrong with him! You said this would work! Why isn't he breathing!" The panic in Chan's mother's voice alarmed Son. He could feel his heart begin to slow and something was weakening him. Deep inside his chest, Son could feel that something was missing. Chan was dead.
"I told you there would be consequences. One cannot survive without the other. Breaking a bond means killing half of a soul.
"He's an alpha! He should withstand! Why is he still alive!" Son struggled to crawl his way to Chan and as he reached for him in tears Chan's mother kicked him away. Even so, Son did not give up and moved forward towards his dead mate. Had the old woman not prevented Chan's mother from hitting him he would not have been able to get to his mate.
"Chan... Chan." Son called out reaching for his mate who was still and no longer breathing. Son's mother watched on silently.
"Son loves Chan. Chan promised not to leave Son" His words fell on deaf ears as Chan would not awaken.
"Chan" Son cried. His wails became louder and louder, he was not aware of it but a large aura began to surround him.
"How is this possible? Isn't he an omega? Why does he have such strength?" He could feel his body grow stronger as if all the strength he had never had suddenly came to him. His heart was beating so loudly in his ears and something was telling Son that it was all the strength he could muster. All the times which he wished to be strong had all been stored away for this moment only.
"Please Chan. Don't leave me." With a kiss to Chan's lips, Son felt all his strength leave him. His body collapsed and as he struggled to keep himself awake, he felt someone lift him up from the ground. His mother. Words are fuzzy and the last thing he remembers is Chan being carried away by his mother.
"Chan..."
