Chan

"Where is it?... Where is it? " Chan was rustling through every box that he could find in the house. His father had he and his mother fly back to Thailand a week ago and all of their things had just arrived that morning. Chan had looked through all the boxes which contained his belongings but he could not find that necklace. His father had given him their family heirloom and told him to keep it safe. Now, he had no idea where he put it.

"Son." Smiling Chan turned to his father though the minute his father smiled back at him Chan's smile faltered.

"Still can't find it?" His father was usually in pack meetings at this hour but he'd pushed back the meeting to spend some time with Chan. Just like Chan, his father had dark hair, his skin was tan and his smile just as charming. There was no mistaking that Chan was his son.

"You should have given the heirloom to P'Apple." His elder sister was much more mature. She was eight years old and seemed to think so anyway.

"Is P'Apple coming home today?" His father chuckled but nodded patting Chan on the head gently. His sister had been spending a lot of time with her mate P'Coach.

Chan thought Apple was lucky to find her mate so early. Coach was an Alpha and son of their father's Third in command. They would see each other often and because they had found each other so young they were able to spend as much time as they wanted together. It was why Apple had stayed in Thailand with her father and had not lived with Chan and his mother in the U.S Apple would often cry if she was away from them for too long so their parents indulged them.

"Don't worry too much about the heirloom all that matters is that you're back safely."

"I still can't remember what happened." When Chan had woken up, it had been in a hospital in the U.S surrounded by his mother and a few guards.

From what Chan understood he had been kidnapped. He could not remember anything, at all. Though since waking up Chan had this feeling that he was forgetting something very important. What that was Chan did not know.

He supposed it might be the heirloom. He wanted to find it again knowing how important it was to his family. Then there was that odd tattoo-like thing on his wrist in the shape of a sun.

His father had asked him to recall whom he had made a blood pact with. Everyone was worried as they feared that Chan had been forced to promise something to his captors. However, his father had told him blood pacts had to be at will. Forcing something would never work.

"Come on son. Let's go have dinner. If it is meant to be found you will find it."

"What if I don't?" What will I give my mate?...

Son

His eyes felt heavy. There was a beeping sound which could be heard throughout the room and the smell of the room itself made Son nauseous.

"Mhm"

"Doctor. He's awake!" Son struggled to open his eyes and realized that he was in the hospital. There was a doctor looking at him and whom Son assumed was a nurse.

"You'll be alright." Flashes of the last time he was awake came to him and Son's heart began to race. His heart monitor indicated this as it began to beep erratically.

'Chan...Mai..'

"Please. Calm down. Can you tell us your name?"

Chan ..."Mai..." Son struggled to speak but even so, he had to. What happened to his mate? Where was his mother? Son watched the doctor and nurse exchange looks.

"Don't worry about that right now child. Tell us your name. How old are you?"

"Mai." Son watched the nurse tear up and then, she took his hand gently.

"Do you remember what happened?" The doctor was waiting for his answer but Son could only weakly nod his head.

"Mai..."

"Sweetheart. There was no one here for you. A woman... she carried you in. She gave no name...She simply brought you here and left."

Left. His mother had abandoned him. Son could not get himself to cry. It was as if his emotions had shut down. He was truly alone now. He had no idea where he was or where Chan was. His parents had never loved him and at this moment he knew. He had been abandoned.

"What is your name? Who are your parents?" The nurse gave him an encouraging smile, but Son knew. He knew that if he spoke his parents would only find another way to get rid of him.

"Son is eight" His name and age were all he would say.

The week would go on like this. Doctors and nurses would press Son for answers which Son never gave. That first night he woke would be the last time he spoke to anyone in the hospital. Only at night when he was alone and in the dark would he allow himself to cry. The doctors and nurses pitied him and each day he could hear them talk about him.

"How could his parents be so cruel."

"To abandon your child because he is an omega"

"What fate awaits that child?"

"Have you seen his mark? There is ash and the name has faded. A dead mate." It was those words that frightened Son the most.

Had he really been so weak that he could not save his mate? Was Chan really dead? He'd promised him to stay by his side and now... he was all alone. While looking at the necklace given to him by Chan, Son clutched on to it each night telling himself that Chan had been real and this was his proof and the only way to get back to him.

"Son. Are you ready to go?" The nurse that had been assigned to him stood beside a nun. The woman offered Son a smile.

"Come with me child. I will take you to a home." Home? What is that like? Chan... Son could only hope. He was placed in a car which the nun drove for what felt like hours. When they finally came to a stop they did so in front of an old house. Son could see dozens of kids running around; it was there that Son was allowed to get out.

"We're no longer in Moon Clan lands. You will be okay here. Nurse Hathaiprasert has assured your safety... Son. This will be your home in Thailand. Sun Clan Southern Orphanage."

Son was afraid. There were many children who had stopped to look at him. There was no way he could hide his Omega status. Son watched the nun walk away leaving him alone. Kids immediately began to surround him and Son could only cower.

"Part!" It was the voice of a small girl that caused the rest of the children to move away quickly. She was accompanied by a boy who glared at everyone else and made them scatter. The girl moved closer to him and sniffed smiling cheerfully.

"An Omega. I've never seen an Omega before I thought they were ex..ex.."

"Extinct Nim" The boy explained with a smirk.

"What's that?" Son gasped when Nim pulled his necklace. He managed to catch it by the chain and the girl pouted.

"It's pretty. Tong, I want it."

"You heard my mate Omega. Give it to her." Mate... Chan... Son could not let her have it and instead pulled back mustering up some strength to fight.

"Didn't you hear me runt?" Son felt as if he was being suffocated. This was the way he was always tortured. He could tell Tong was nothing more than a regular wolf. Even so, an omega was weaker than that. But Son could not let go of Chan. He would not let go.

"You want to die?" Air was leaving Son's lungs rapidly but he held tightly onto Chan's gift. This was his promise and Chan's love. The only love Son knew. Suddenly a thicker aura surrounded them, it was much deadlier... Alpha?... Son watched both Nim and Tong fall to their knees while someone stood above them. Nim by then had let go of Son's necklace and Son was able to stand.

"Come on Pon. We were just messing with him. It's just a stupid necklace." The boy; Pon, looked a bit older than them, he was much taller, his face looked mean and reminded Son of a rabid wolf. Son could see that this boy was ready for a fight when he turned to look at him Son took a step back but held tightly on to his necklace. This caused the boy to smile at him brightly. The anger on his face vanished and his suffocating aura was gone.

"It's alright. I won't take it from you. It must be very important to you to fight so hard for it. I'm Pon by the way and these knuckleheads are Nim and Tong. They won't bother you again will you?" Pon turned to Tong and Nim who were already standing up.

"I'm Sorry." Pon smiled then and threw his arm around Son.

"I will take care of you from now on little pup."

"What's your name?" Tong questioned while he and Nim followed Son and Pon from behind, having forgotten about the incident moments ago.

"How old are you?" Nim added while Pon threw them a glare which they both bounced away.

"S-Son. Eight." It was all Son could muster up the courage to say while he was brought in to the old house. Many kids were staring at him but the looks quickly left and they looked terrified. It was then that Son noticed that Pon, Tong and Nim were glaring at everyone.

"N' Son... I like pup better...You can call me P'Pon. I'm nine. Tong and Nim are both eight. Come let's introduce you to everyone." Son was pushed to a large room. Pon helped Son climb the bunk bed ladder and stand on top over everyone. Tong and Nim both flanked Pon and glared down while Pon once again has thrown his arm protectively around Son.

He had long been taught not to steal but he could not remember the last time he was ever allowed to eat sweets. Son smiled when he saw a large basket. Quietly he picked it up and found himself lucky when he saw a paper bag. Being careful not to make much noise, as he could hear people talking from outside the kitchen Son began to place as much as he could in the paper bag. He made sure to grab five bottles of pink milk and place them in the basket as well. He could hear footsteps approaching and quickly headed to the chimney glad that the rope had given him enough room to move. Looking up Son tugged harshly twice and he was slowly carried up.

There was this feeling in his chest of belonging when he was met with smiles from Tong, Nim, and Pon. They congratulated him on his first job with them and they then headed back home. They hid behind the orphanage and there the four of them enjoyed eating several pastries and washing them down with pink milk.

"What's this other one for?" Pon looked at Son with a knowing smile when he saw there was extra pink milk. He pinched Son's cheek and handed him the milk. The bottles were buried behind the house and Son felt a bit guilty for stealing. Still, this was the first time he was ever full and he was happy to have made friends.

By the end of the day, when everyone had settled into their beds to sleep Son was the only one that lay awake. He curled himself into a small ball and clutched on to the only thing he had, of the only person to ever love him. Chan's necklaced.

Chan...

Son felt lost. He was afraid and did not know if he would ever see his mother or father again. Would they want to see him? What about Chan? Would they ever see each other again? There was a creaking sound which came from up above on the top bunk. Son could hear the person climb down and though he tried to fake sleep the other person simply lay beside him.

"Nong. It's okay." Pon wrapped his arms around Son tightly and Son could only let himself cry. How did you know?

"It's alright little pup. Everyone cries their first night. But I won't let you feel lonely here little brother." Son felt something soft being placed in his arms. It was a small stuffed gray and white wolf. Tugging it closer to his chest Son allowed Pon to hug him. It was the first night he didn't feel so alone.

Third Person

Mrs. Moon smiled watching her son play outside with his sister Apple. At first, she'd been so afraid that her son would become... one of them. She'd done her research long ago about her children's mates. It was simple when submissive's carried their dominants name. Apple had the name of her mate behind her ear as most submissive's did. 'Coach'. His father was an Alpha and her husbands' Third in command. This would keep her daughter in high status as Coach was also an Alpha. Mrs. Moon watched her husband play with their children and smiled. Everything was perfect. Nothing had gone different than what she had planned. With the exception of that little omega surviving. Of course, from what Son's mother explained on the phone it would only be a matter of time before Son died. The small Omega had given what little strength he had for Chan to live.

It was the only good thing his mate would ever do for her son. Giving him his last breath and dying a secret. The only reason she found him was because of her friend Jane Hathaiprasert. She was a nurse with connections all over Asia as she had traveled in her younger years until coming home and marrying her husband. With the help of her friend, she was able to track her son's mate without anyone knowing. Son came as a shock she'd always looked at her son and never did she see anything wrong with him. He was a good boy, strong, proud the way the future Alpha should be. What would people say when they knew her son would love a man? She was only glad Son's mother agreed to help. It seemed she wasn't fond of her child and that woman's hate was her win.

"Aat!," Hearing Chan call out to his friend Mrs. Moon knew Jane had come to see her. Smiling she watched both boys run about and play with Apple, her husband and Jane's husband began to talk outside and Mrs. Moon signaled for her friend to come inside. Quietly, the two headed to the east wing of the mansion where her they would not be disturbed. Locking the door of the guest bedroom she turned to Jane.

"Is he dead?"

"How can you be so cold about this. It's your son's mate. His one and only."

"I've already arranged for someone to marry Chan. My son will have a strong well-bred daughter as his wife."

"A well-bred daughter..." There was a look of disbelief in Jane's eyes while looking at Chan's mother.

"There's only one mate. What do you plan on telling Chan when he grows up and asks questions?"

"Is he dead?" Mrs. Moon cut Jane off.

"He allowed himself to die in Chan's place. That should mean something to you. Chan should know what his mate did for him. He's forgotten but you should remind him of it."

"There's no need. Why make my son suffer for someone he does not know. Besides. I will let him know that his mate is dead when he asks."

"I should have never helped you with this Ying. If I'd known you would kill him."

"I asked you to do it."

"There was no need for me to do so. The child was dying. But I would have never followed your orders Ying. You may be our High Alpha's mate, but if he were to find out what you've done to his heir. It's treason and against our laws." Mrs. Moon only laughed at Jane and then smirked.

"You'll never tell a soul. There would be chaos. Besides. You said so yourself. That omega child is dead. There's no point in stirring up trouble where it's not needed. Chan does not remember there is no point in telling anyone now. He will have a wife when he grows up and all will be perfect."

Jane Hathaiprasert could only stand alone in that cold room once the High Alpha's mate had left. It was clear to her that Ying would have never forgiven little Son's life. It was clear to her that Ying's problem was more than Son being an omega. They'd known each other since they were children and Ying was always thinking of status, looking for more, wanting better. She was judgmental and prejudice.

She thought things had changed when Ying married the High Alpha. He was her mate, somehow Jane had thought that Ying had matured as she was High Alpha's mate. But it was all fake, she'd kept up appearances and now it had become clear that this was all an act. There was nothing wrong with Son. Omegas were rare and valuable. They could breed with their mate and there would be no problem with Chan and Son having children in the future. Not all same-sex couples were lucky enough to have that. It was clear that Son being male was the only problem for Ying.

Ying's refusal of her son's mate proved to Jane that Ying had not changed. Thinking of little Son only made her heart tighten. She did not know why Son's mother had chosen to abandon him too. Right now, the safest place for Son was in the Sun Clan lands. Away from Korea with his mother and father, and away from Ying. If he was thought dead, Son could survive. He would grow strong and survive. Jane was sure that only then would Son come back, only then could Chan grow stronger and fight for Son. Jane would gladly accept her punishment for this, even if that meant dying. She was in this now and all she could do was pray that her husband and her son would not be punished with her.
