(Seven Years Later)

Son

Nim, Tong, Son, and Pon are sitting outside the orphanage, lying beside a tree and relaxing. Son, Nim, and Tong are all fifteen now, Pon is sixteen. It's hard to believe that seven years have passed since Son was abandoned. Although he is poor, he has no parents and misses Chan, Son is alright. No longer is he as fragile as he had been in the past. No longer does he feel so alone. An arm is thrown over his shoulder and pink milk is handed to him. Son smiles at Pon.

"Do you guys want some?" Nim is holding a bag of boosters. Pills that increase your strength if only for a few hours and give you a high that's supposed to be indescribable.

"Where did you get this? These are illegal." Son gives Nim a worried look while she shrugs.

"Don't be such a worry wart nugget. You'll try some right guys? Pon? Tong?"

"I don't need it." Nim rolls her eyes at Pon who shoves the bag of pills away and simply takes Son's pink milk, taking a sip before handing it back to him. Son shakes his head and when Nim shoves the bag of boosters in his face he shoves it away with a glare. Nim only rolls her eyes but hands the bag to Tong.

"You know. You could use it, given the fact that you use us as a shield. Boosters might be good for you nugget." Pon glares at Nim and she simply shrugs. Son shakes his head at the girl. She and Tong have not changed at all. They both enjoy stealing, both love alcohol, their relationship is toxic, lustful and dangerous. Son knows better than to use boosters. You become irrational, and despite the surge a strength the drug gives you once you are out of it your real strength becomes weaker. This is why many wolves had become co-dependent on the drug until they can't live without it.

"Don't do it." Son warns Nim who ignores him and takes a pill in her mouth.

"You'll do it with me won't you Tong?" There's hesitation in his eyes much like how he usually acts when Nim has a bad idea. As always, however, Tong gives into his mate. This time he swallows the pill without hesitation and the two leave together leaving Son and Pon alone.

"Not going to work today pup?" Pon questions after a moment of silence. They've had countless talks with both Nim and Tong and despite how much they worried about them they knew nothing could stop them especially once Nim had decided on something for she and Tong.

"No. The bakery's closed today. Mr. Atitarn and his wife are going to visit their hometown. What about you? Aren't you supposed to be working at the car shop today?"

"Not until much later." Pon replied.

Since growing up both Pon and Son did their best to become good people. Stealing was okay as children. Who would hire them? They were always hungry and they needed to survive. Son had promised himself that when he got older he would get a job and pay back the bakery for stealing. It seemed like he could not give up the sweets that Mr. Atitarn made and simply applied for a job at the small bakery. This way he could work and make some money that he would need for school and at the same time, he could get as many pastries as he wished for free. It was a win-win situation.

Pon, on the other hand, was working at an auto shop as a mechanic. Together, they made plans. Pon would be eighteen in just two years and it would be time for him to leave the orphanage. Son was determined to leave with him. Nim and Tong were a couple both of them had made plans to leave together and get married. Son was happy for them. But sometimes watching them together hard as he would find himself wondering what it would be like to be with Chan.

Chan... Are you well?... Do you think of me?... Do you miss me?... Unconsciously Son would always play with the necklace Chan had given him. Pon pinched his cheek and Son looked back at him confused. Pon chuckled.

"Thinking of him again?" There was no need for Son to answer. He'd only confided in Pon and told him the truth about all that had happened. Of course, he'd never mentioned his parents and had given him a short version of what happened. We met once. He gave me this, then he was gone.

"I told you I would help you find him. Your Pen-Chan" Son and Pon had done their research as they'd grown older. When Son had seen Chan's name behind his ear was nothing more than ash he had cried thinking Chan had died. Pon had comforted him and let him cry and mourn but told him not to give up.

Pon had always kept his promise to take care of him. Whether that was shielding Son with his own scent, so no one would harm him for being an Omega. Or holding on to him tightly at night so Son wouldn't feel so lonely. Yes, they still slept on the same bed. Each night Son would have nightmares and wake up either crying or screaming. It drove everyone in the orphanage crazy but only Pon would be patient with him. He would comfort Son to sleep. However, this was nothing compared to what Pon had done for him.

Pon had not given up his search with only Pen-Chan's name he had found him. Chan was alive and Son realized that what he had told him years ago was true. Chan was not only an Alpha but he was the High Alpha. He was the heir to the Moon pack. It became clear to Son then just how much Chan's mother hated him. How could an Omega be the High Alpha's mate? Son could do and provide for Chan what a female mate could, in the end, it came down to him being male. His old clan hated Omegas. Son recalls looking at them miserable and without a mate.

"They're dirty. They don't deserve to procreate" His father would say. In the end, Son knew it was the same way Chan's mother thought of wolves like him.

Pon had also found Son. He had snooped through records and found many Son's in Thailand but there was only one Chai-Son in Korea that was eight years old and according to records had died in a fire when he was left alone at home. The child had been an omega and his parents though questioned had not been found guilty. The fire was sparked by a faulty electric wire. Son had fessed up then to Pon.

"My parents didn't want me and I don't want to be found." He told Pon about the abuse from his mother and father and how he did not want to go back. He had begged and cried at the time as he had only been ten at the time and he feared that Pon would try to send him back.

Pon had promised to keep his secret and had held him in his arms as he cried. Pon had always been there to comfort him.

"Don't worry pup. I am your only family now and I won't allow anyone to hurt you." Pon always kept his promises.

Now that they were both older they'd saved enough money from working to get a place of their own and in no time they would move to Moon lands. Pon had promised to help him get back to Chan. Son couldn't wait.

"P'Pon. You are the best brother." Pon smiled and ruffled Son's hair.

"P'Pon." Son could feel tears fall from his eyes and before long Pon was holding him tightly.

"You have to look after yourself Son. About my last name. It's yours too okay. It's how I'll be able to find you should we meet again and I know we will." Pon assured. A few feet away from them the woman and man who would be Pon's new parents approached.

"Pon. We have to go now." The woman spoke to him with a sad smile. She looked at Son strangely and he supposed it was because he was an omega but Son brushed it off. All he cared about at the moment was Pon.

"Don't worry about me okay. I'll be fine." Pon spoke. Taking off his jacket he placed it on Son's shoulders. His scent surrounded Son and he pulled the jacket closer. Pon's warmth and scent was still lingered and only made Son's tears fall more.

"For school on Monday. My scent should last until then. Stay beside Tong and Nim. They might be average ranked wolves but it's enough to hide your rank Son." Son could only nod while sniffling.

"My last gift." Pon spoke pushing the small gray wolf to Son who frantically shook his head.

"Your mother gave that to you before she died P'Pon I can't take it."

"It's a set Nong. A mother and a baby. She couldn't keep hers and let me have both. I'll keep the mother; you keep the son. This way it's older brother and little brother. It's our link little pup. Don't push it away." Pon was trying his best not to cry as he gave the small stuffed animal to Son. Only at night would Pon let Son borrow it. It had been Pon's most prized possession. Taking the smaller wolf in his hands Son let tears fall from his eyes while looking at Pon who was still holding on to the bigger wolf.

Silently the two stood beside one another, simply looking at each other. They did not want to say goodbye.

"Pon." His new parents called out once more.

"I'm coming." He spoke before hugging tightly on to Son.

"I'll see you again little pup. I promise." Pon spoke crying. Son could only nod through his tears while clinging on to Pon tightly. When they finally pulled away Pon wiped Son's tears roughly with his thumb much like he had when they were children and he would try to comfort Son. It was no use, Son continued to cry and Pon, himself had tear stained cheeks. Cupping Son's cheek gently Pon placed a chaste kiss on his lips.

"Goodbye little pup." With those words Pon walked away, leaving with his new family and leaving Son in tears. Son watched the car drive away with Pon while he sobbed uncontrollably. Once again, Son felt alone.
