The cops pounded on the door of room 203. Oliver answered, wearing a bathrobe, looking startled.
“What’s going on here?”
“We received a report. We have some questions.”
I followed them inside. Clothes were scattered everywhere – a path from the window to the couch to the bed.
Oliver panicked, blocking their path. “Wait a minute! She’s my wife! This is totally legal!”
“IDs, please,” the officer said, his voice calm.
Lily screamed from under the covers.
“Jason?!”
Oliver saw me behind the cops. “You bastard! You set me up!” he roared, charging towards me and landing a punch on my jaw.
Blood trickled down my chin, but I kept my eyes on Lily. She stared at me, her face a mix of shock and fear.
We were taken to the police station. When Lily emerged, I was waiting.
“You knew about Oliver and me, and you called the cops, saying he was soliciting a prostitute?!” she yelled, her voice trembling with anger and humiliation. “How could you do this to me?!”
