The swirling wind around us vanished, along with the dark clouds and impending rain. The trees were no longer thrashing widely around us but it still looked like a storm had passed. But I guess it kinda did.
"Your majesty," I heard Alaric say. "I...I didn't-"
"I know." I cut him off. "But he's okay now."
"How did you know what to do?"
"My mother use to make me forget things all the time. I guess I just pick it up."
"How long is he gonna be out?"
"About a day or two. I didn't want him to have a blank space in his memories so I kind of alternate it a little. Just tell him seeing that guy get kill changed me and the little girl escaped back through the portal. And since we actually found it, he'll believe it."
"Okay." he nodded. "But what about the lion-wolf?" he then said.
At hearing it being mention, the creature revealed itself from hiding and planted it's behind a good distance from us, looking well poised and mannered. But despite how quiet and unmoving he was, I knew what he wanted.
"What do you think?" I said to Alaric.
"He's a hazard to people and we still don't know much about this breed."
"But he could be really good for Troy."
He paused before saying, "Just make sure you know what you're doing."
I looked back to Barack. I still can't believe Troy named him that. "One slipup, and it's right back here to stay."
He ran over us, and I couldn't help but smile at how cold his tongue felt. He then left my side to lick Troy's face, which resulted in a smile on his mouth. It was then I knew how certain I was about them. Barack better not screw this up.
As we walked around the side of the house, there were two thing I realized immediately. All the little children were currently stampeding over to us and everyone seemed to be taken aback by my appearance. After solving Troy's situations, Alaric and I spent the rest of the day working on my mental strength and control. A few times he requested to see the markings on my back, but I refuse, remembering how I was first introduced to them by Sage. For some reason, I felt strange about anyone else but him seeing it. Before I was willing, but now...
With Troy slumped over his shoulder, Alaric disappeared into the house, leaving me to fend for myself. As the children approached, I stepped to the side, knowing exactly what they wanted. If Barack wasn't having the time of his life now, I don't know who was. Some climbed onto his legs and his back, while others petting the life out him. I guess somebody's gonna love it here.
"Hanna?"
"Um.." I pulled away from him and searched the crowd desperately. When I spotted him, I told Sage I'd be back and ran over to Jacob, pulling him to the far side.
"I need your help."
"It's good to see you too." he laughed. "I'm digging the new look by the way. How'd you know I have a thing for blondes?"
"I'm just gonna ignore that," I said flatly. "Anyway, I need some advice."
He rose a brow. "On what?"
"Remember that 'talk' I said we'd have later? Well, it's later."
"You mean right now?"
