"I'm sorry..." Toby mumbled.
"For?" Emily pressed.
"Biting you..."
"Good. Now you too Sage."
"W-what?" He stammered. It was as if Toby's day took on a new meaning. Now Sage was the one complaining and he was the one laughing.
"It's only fair. And besides, you could have scarred my poor baby if things went further!"
"But-"
"Apologize."
"I'm sorry..."
"For?"
"Letting you think I was eating Hanna and, almost ruining you pure little mind."
The last part spewed sarcasm, but Emily seemed to take what she could get.
"Good. Now hug it out."
"Mom!" they both whined.
"But Anna's here!"
"So?" She rose a brow.
"Fine. But why can't it be her, though?" Toby mumbled.
"Yeah," Sage piped up. "Can I hug her instead?"
"No."
"Fine," they mumbled. I couldn't help but smile at watching them. They seem like the perfect little family, something I've always wanted. Even if they argue it only last for about 5 minutes, and all is forgotten. I felt like I wanted to be a part of them, and I kind of do. It was as if I belonged with them.
So, this...this mate thing that's suppose to guarantee Sage and I together, I hope it's true. I hope to god that it's true...
[4 Days Later]
I shot up from the bed, holding my chest. My eyes scanned around the room until my brain finally registered where I was. I looked to my side and saw an imprinted body left in the sheets.
Sage.
I wiped my hand across my forehead to reveal a sheen of sweat against my skin. I fell back into the bed, staring at the ceiling.
Another Nightmare.
They all start off as pleasant dreams but slowly revert into catastrophic nightmares. The one place that existed for escape and relief from the bitter-sweet world, was not revoking the tumultuous feelings that grew inside. I really loathe the fact that I'm wallowing in self-pity that I'm here so helpless and weak. But fear is the strongest of most emotion, and, I can feel it taking over my being.
I would usually make up some crap to dilute my fears but, my nerves have run short. I try so hard to get the images out of my head but I can't. All I could see is death, torture, sadness everywhere. But I know how to hide my discomfort. I've hidden it well for years. Everyone thought my life was so perfect for a long time now, so I'll treat this situation the same.
Act Normal.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door and I quickly wiped my tears and messed up my hair a little.
Bed head effect? I know. Sad isn't it?
I groaned. "Don't I have a say in this?"
"No," she said, pointing to the bathroom. "Now go shower before I scrub you down myself!"
I threw my head under the covers in ignorance. "Can't I just wear jeans and call it a day?" I said pouting, but she just laughed at me.
"You're kidding, right?"
Luckily I was under the protection of the sheets, so she couldn't see my beet red face.
"Hanna, even if you did convince me to let you wear jeans, Sage would kill me if you didn't wear the dress!"
I flew up from my shield at this and scrunch my brows at her."Why would Sage kill you and what dress?"
"Nothing!" she said nonchalantly. "Nothing, just forget I said anything."
"No. I wanna know and I won't take a shower until you tell me." I smirked at her.
Wow, I guess Sage I rubbing off on everyone.
"C'mon Hanna! Just work with me here!"
"I'm still not hearing an explanation..." I sang.
"Can't you just take a shower first!" she tried again.
"Hey, won't you look at that?" I said to the alarm clock I failed to notice next to the bed earlier. "4:58 pm"
"Fine! I'll tell you! Sage is taking you somewhere after the dinner so he wants you all dolled up. Now go bathe!" she yanked me off the bed and shooed me to the bathroom.
