She just nodded her head as she tried to calm her breathing. She stared at her reflection in the stainless steel door of the elevator, she looked so pale, still bruised, the bandages on her wrists looked ridiculous. Why did she come in today? Sara told her her job was secured but why did she feel the need to do this?
The elevator binged and the doors swished open. She clutched his hand tightly as they walked out. She walked up to the white desk that matched downstairs, same with the light fixtures and the floors, the furniture that consisted of two chairs and a couch were white also.
Blake couldn't help but think how anybody could keep all this white clean.
"Cecilia, can you let Sara know I'm here?" Sam's voice broke through his train of thoughts. It sounded so small and weak but he held tight on to her hand still.
The receptionist's face paled as she looked at Sam. He had to fight everything not to glare at the woman.
"Miss Conners, oh my, um yes right away, give me ma'am." Cecilia practically ran from the desk as fast as her short legs could carry her, her blonde hair flying behind her.
"Well, that went great." Sam muttered as she pulled her hand from Blake's and leaned against the desk.
He put his arm around her pulling her close placing a kiss on her forehead. "Maybe she was just shocking with seeing you I'm sure a lot of people know what's been going on by now."
"Maybe." She closed her eyes taking in his scent of Axe Kilo, she'd never get tired of it.
"Miss Conners, she's ready for you." Cecilia said and led them to Sara's office.
Sam took a deep breath and walked in, she could do this, she had to do this, it was becoming her personal meterage.
"Samantha, I told you it could wait," Sara stood but froze as she took in Sam's state and the big muscular man beside her, she laughed a little. "One of the three cowboys I presume?" She came around her huge white desk and held out her hand to the man. "Sara Tate, I have to say thank you for keeping my lead designer safe."
"Blake Camden, nice to meet you." He shook her delicate hand gently.
"I know you said I could wait but our customers pay good money so I can't let them down." Sam's weak voice stated as she laid her things in one of the chairs.
"Oh you're so stubborn." Sara exclaimed.
Sam looked at Blake quickly, her eyes filled with love for him. She then looked back at Sara. "If you need anything else from me Sara just let me know please? POR if the customers need something as well just call me, I really think I need that counseling for at least a little bit."
"Yes I think that is a good idea, you still have six weeks of vacation plus three more weeks coming," Sara smiled as all three of them stood. She looked directly at Blake and held out her hand to him. "Take good care of her Blake and thank you again."
Blake took her hand and shook it. "As long as she wants me to I will." He answered calmly and looked down at Sam, they had a lot of things to work on together but he would do it.
"I'll keep you updated Sara, thank you for being understanding," Sam smiled weakly.
Sara came around the desk and hugged Sam. "Don't worry about anything here Sam, you worry about yourself right now, your job will be here when you come back I promise."
Sam and Blake made their way down to the elevator then outside of the building.
Blake took her hand gently. He had a lot to compete with, he would never fit into her world but he would at least try. He led them down towards the parking garage but Sam froze and looked around to make sure no one was following them. Blake let her do it as he rubbed his thumb against her palm.
