"She just took off, she didn't wake me up or anything." He mumbled as he just stared down the driveway.
"Maybe she'll come back." Aaron tried to sound hopeful.
"No she left, she won't be back for a while if ever." He turned away from his boss and headed up to his loft. He stopped by the dresser and caught a glimpse of the smooth written words on the notepad. He picked it up and collapsed on his bed as he began to read. No following, he couldn't contact her ever again, he had to let her go.
He let out a deep breath trying to ease the hurt he felt as he let the notepad fall to the ground. This was what she wanted. He hung his head in his hands completely shattered. He'd never let anyone in again. This was his lesson of being stupidly foolish and thinking someone could actually want him long term. Never again.
The tears slid down her cheeks unstoppably. She couldn't control how much this was ripping her heart out and breaking her. she would hate herself for the rest of her life for this. But it was for the best, he deserved better and he'd find it if he let himself.
She kept driving as her heart broke even more for the man she loved.
She wasn't even happy to be home as she walked into her small, lonely apartment an hour later. The tears had finally stopped but the hurt and loneliness didn't. She sighed as she dropped everything on the couch and headed to her room with the pillow she'd taken that Blake had slept on in her bedroom. She felt so tired and drained all of a sudden.
She slipped her shoes off slowly and collapsed on the bed and pulled the pillow close to her chest hugging it tightly. Her eyes slowly drifted shut and began to fall asleep.
Blake kept stewing about everything as he stared at the ceiling of the loft. He was so empty and hated the feeling. He just wanted his girl in his arms, where he knew she was safe and sound. He had to shut his feelings down and become ice cold again. It was the only way.
Maybe if he had protected her better she would have had more faith in him and she wouldn't feel so weak. She wouldn't feel so damaged because the bastard would have never gotten to her. She deserved better anyway.
Why he was putting himself through this was beyond him. He turned on his side and stared at the wall. He missed her so much all ready. He slammed his fist into the pillow and laid back down. Sleep kept evading him but the memories of Sam weren't. They kept him up so early in the morning that he gave up on trying to sleep and went to work.
Aaron handed Blake his cell phone. "Use mine, she might answer that."
Blake scrolled to Sammy's number and swiped as it began to ring. He kept muttering to himself for her to pick up the phone until she did.
"A-Aaron?" her voice sounded so broken and shaky.
"Baby, what's the matter?" he began to panic as he glanced at Aaron who mirrored his own fear and confusion.
"B-Blake?" she stuttered. "I'm scared, I'm, I'm in the garage, I can't m-move." She continued to stutter a little.
