"We haven't found Kevin yet, Alpha Jason." I heard Beta Chris mumble as I strode down the stairs. "Although we've hunted most of his Rogues down."
My palms curled as I furiously eyed my Father and Beta Chris sitting on opposite couches. They barely even noticed me, engulfed in their conversation.
I wished my Father had sent me along the other warriors so I could end that bastard once and for all. There was some connection between Kevin and Claire.
The first time she had visited his raggedly home, I thought it was nothing. But then it became consistent and just yesterday, she tried to convince my Father from killing him. Ever since, she had been in so much unrest. As if Kevin was the only thing boggling her mind. Someone she hasn't even met!
There was only one logical explanation, Kevin is the Lycan's daughter mate. My teeth gnashed against each other at that thought. Loathing why a beautiful lady had to be mated to the son of a traitor. It even hurt more because my plan was falling apart.
I want Claire to be mine, I want to have a taste of her, I want to use her till I get tired just like Imogen. But apparently, Kevin's bad luck was ruining everything!
"You'll have to do better, Beta Chris." I stated with all authority. The both of them turned in my direction. Their lips pursed as our eyes bonded. I approached them with my hands slipped into my pockets.
"That son of a traitor is no ordinary man. We all know what's gonna happen if he steps foot into Greenville."
My Father slowly nodded in agreement whilst rubbing his beards that hinted tints of grey.
"As much as I agree with you, We'll have to hold back regardless." He stated calmly.
My brows furrowed.
"Yes Jerry. I'm sure you remember today is the date, Greenville Pack was birthed. Hence, it's not proper for any of us going out on a war during a celebratory festival." He explained but my mind and soul didn't buy it. Of course I remember what today means but the fact that Kevin gets to live another day unharmed. Dosed my irritation.
"But I promise you, as the sun rises tomorrow, we shall go hunting for that son of a traitor. And this time, he won't escape death." My Father avowed while I eyed both of them.
"In the meantime, I suggest you join the others preparations."
I huffed before pacing towards the door. The wind blew softly across my hair, the sun's warmth blessed my skin as my ears entertained chirping birds. I hissed as I strode past the girls. Eyeing me like a seductress.
She declared but her eyes said otherwise. I could even hear her heartbeat skip a bit.
"Claire you don't have to lie to me. Anything is possible." I replied, holding her gaze so she found it impossible to waver from mine.
"Jerry, Kevin isn't my mate!" She reaffirmed.
"Then why you always visiting this place? Why have you turned cold since yesterday? Why?"
Her lips parted but no words toured out. She closed her eyes whilst taking deep breaths before gazing at me again.
"There's this feeling of nostalgia whenever I'm around this place. Nothing more." She said on a calm note but I knew better.
The Lycan's daughter is mated to a Rogue.
