My eyes widened and my lips parted for chill air to escape. My heart started to pick pace as my grip gradually reduced from the Lycan's collar.
"Alpha Jason and Luna Elsa were friends from childhood. Everyone had thought they would be mates in the near future until one day when he met me." She pursed her lips while she fought back those tears.
"It changed everything between them and not long after, Elsa found her mate. The Lycan." My eyes twitched as I gradually digested those words in.
"Jason never loved me or maybe he did at one point but his heart clearly belonged to someone else. Elsa had moved on but he," she paused while her hands clenched into a fist. "He craved her. More than his mate. And one day, Greenville was hosting it's annual Inter Pack Competition. Elsa graced the occasion but your father," I swallowed the saliva in my throat, my body quivering.
"He pleaded with her to stay the night. He wanted a friendly gathering for the night but Jason had other sinister plans." She paused again.
"That night, your Father had gone to do some important work at the competition's venue. Nobody was in the Pack House except the two of them. Jason and Elsa. And along the line, I had to return to Pack House. He tried to force himself on her and no matter what I did to stop him, he was too powerful for the both of us. By mistake, she slipped." She pursed her lips while a tear gently toured her cheek. "His knife went straight to her heart."
I gasped. I couldn't even find courage to glance at the Lycan or my mate. Even though the atmosphere was warm I could feel cold storming my body.
"To save himself from his atrocious act, he had to cast me away. He couldn't muster the courage to kill me but rather he locked me in bondage far away from Greenville. Unfortunately, I couldn't escape until few days ago."
"Your Father took the blame Kevin." My mother interjected softly, tears already touring across her cheeks freely.
"That was why we had to rush here, to save you from doing the unthinkable." Gabriel added but I smiled sadly at the floor.
They stared at me in silence for minutes until my lips finally parted but nothing came forth. I only staggered to a stance, wobbling towards the door. That perhaps, the light beyond would at least comfort my soul.
And as I eased through those doors, I knew one thing.
It was over.
