Love, Jae
I instantly break down into tears at her words, no longer able to hold the pain back. I regret the words I said to her today. I regret not standing up to my dad. To hell with the pack, she would have been the best Luna and now she's gone.
She's gone. How could she just be gone.
Jaelyn's POV*
I've been running for hours and my feet felt like they were about ready to fall off. I don't know where I am but I know that I'm a rouge and if I get caught by another pack they will not hesitate to kill me so I have to keep running.
I need to find a nearby town to rest for the night. The pain in my chest never ceased, just got worse the farther I got from him. 'Because we need him.' Cleo, my wolf whimpered. 'But he doesn't want us.' My words just make her growl. 'Don't say that.' I roll my eyes and growl at her. 'He rejected us Cleo! We can't turn back!' She hid herself in the corner of my mind and closed me off. I can't blame her. He's her mate. Our mate. She can't let go but I can't turn around. I can't face them. Face him.
Suddenly I hear a low pitched growl and freeze, stopping in my tracks. I search for the source but when I don't see anyone I continue running. The farther I run the more I start to catch a rather distinct smell. Wolf. Shit! I'm in another packs territory. I have to get our of here!
I hear another growl, but this time all I felt was power. Alpha, I think before a large brown wolf stepps before me. He growls again louder this time, forcing me to submit.
I look around, realizing I'm surrounded by 3 large wolfs. The alpha was brown with a large black spot above his left eye. The wolf next to him must have been the beta because I could smell the power coming off of him as well, just not as strong. He was a grey wolf, a little bit smaller than the brown one. He had little white patches across his back. The last wolf was the smallest of the three. Maybe the Omega? He was brown like the alpha but he had black on his tail and feet.
You can see the alpha mind link something to them and suddenly they disappear, only to come back in human form, moments later.
"I'm not grumpy." He snaps back to Dylan with a small pout playing on his lips. I involuntarily let out a giggle making their gazes shift to me. I freeze realizing I just laughed at the Alpha. He notices my tense stature and laughs.
"Don't worry Jaelyn. I don't see any danger here. I'm not going to hurt you." I let out a sigh of relief and get ready to ask if I can leave when I feel pain course through my body. I let out a loud scream and drop to the ground. The pain searing through me, a burnings sensation in my chest. They all look at me with wide eyes and I hear Dylan say something I can't quite catch, before I let out another ear piercing scream.
"I- I think I'm changing." I slur out, before another wave of pain was sent through me. My body goes rigid, the pain increasing by the moment, consuming me.
"Where is your mate?" Ethan asks worriedly, getting on his knees at my side. The burning sensation in your chest rises at the mention of Cade.
"He-"Im cut off when I start to feel my bones realigning and all I can do is scream, again. Its not supposed to be like this. It's always painful the first time but your mate is supposed to be with you on your first shift so the pain is bearable. Supposedly just there presence can make a world of difference. But i know that without Cade, I might not make it. Even strong wolves have a hard time making it through this alone, and I am nowhere near strong.
