"Greed won. The council members that we ourselves selected to be directly below us in rank were the very ones who lusted after the power that we had. I don't know how but apparently one of them found out that by taking the heart of one of our kind, their power strengthens to the point where they themselves are able to speak to the Gods. You can imagine what happened after that," I smiled bitterly.

Axil asked, "they started to kill your coven for more power?"

A resentful laugh escaped my lips as I turned my cold eyes to meet his, "they started a massacre. We never expected them to turn on us like that, so we were unprepared, and our home was burnt down. It was terrible. I was only eleven back then, but I could still remember the screams of terror and the many bodies that littered the floor. It took everything out of our mother, who was the reigning queen of Divinities to send us down to earth."

"Us?"

"My sisters and I. Elena, Elysia, Ellie and me, Ezmira. We're quadruplets. We all share the same features, so it was difficult to tell us apart and I guess my mom never mentioned to anyone else that she had more than one daughter. We grew up sheltered in our own home. Whenever our mom left the castle, she'd only take one of us with her and she'd always tell us to use Elena's name when someone talked to us. I guess she had her suspicions about the council and tried her best to avoid any disasters from occurring, I don't know."

"So that talk you had with Tiana back then... does that mean the council is looking for you? Why? They've already killed hundreds of your people so doesn't that make them stronger now?"

I snorted and rolled my eyes, "how could they ever be? They can't possibly be better than the first original bloodline no matter how many of us they kill. My mother's abilities were the strongest amongst our kind. She could peer into the future whenever she wanted and because of that, she had to hide away in her castle under the context of having a weak body. Can you imagine what people would do if they knew she had that ability?"

"They'd start a massacre to get to her."

"Exactly. They've started a massacre for less."

"So, if your mother had that ability... does that mean...?"

I shook my head, "I don't think so. I mean I've never tried because I was too young at the time, but I don't even know where to start. I'm sure one of my sisters managed to awaken that ability though."

"What did you mean when you said you came down to earth?"

"Oh that," I shrugged, "unlike everyone else, our kind lived in our own dimension. It was a world between both the earth and the underworld. As you know, witches are the gatekeepers of portals. We can open a path between worlds and allow others to either enter or exit."

"So, witches don't live on earth?"

Axil breathed in fascination, "is that your crystal?"

I nodded and waved my hand towards the crystal, allowing it to absorb itself into my chest and disappear.

"So, what are you going to do now?" Axil asked warily.

I sighed and ran a hand down my face, "to be honest? I have no idea. When I moved to this town, I was under the impression that I could live out the rest of my days here, without fear of ever meeting anything supernatural again. I didn't want to be a part of that world anymore. Not after what happened to my family."

"Didn't you ever think of getting revenge?" He asked.

I grimaced at that and glanced at him, "why? Why should I get revenge? To feel better about myself? Because I assure you, getting revenge would make me feel worse because I won't be going up against just the council. I'll be going up against every single witch on earth. The very ones that my kind were created to protect. The ones my mother had no problem dying for. She could've escaped Axil... she could've but she didn't. She sent us away instead."
