"My life?" Angela scoffed. "My life has been a mess. How did you expect it to be when I was left homeless and penniless and hurt so much. You've destroyed my life, Steve."
"You cheated on me." He reminded her.
"Couldn't you have just divorced me and not take my whole life away? Couldn't you have not told my father? He disowned me. He took all the money away from me and that's not the worst part. Have you any idea how much it hurts when your own family hates you, when your family refuses any contact from you?"
"You cheated, Angela."
"I didn't, Steven. I swear to you I didn't." Angela cried out.
Steven remained unmoved. "You never denied it before."
"You never gave me a chance to. I never cheated on you."
Steven scoffed. Ran a hand through his sleek blonde hair. "You expect me to believe that? You pleaded to go back to your old hell hole to bring back a keepsake of Tony. And the day I brought you back here you said it yourself you called Tony's mother. I heard you promising here you would go back."
"Yes, I called her. She and her family gave me a home. I owe it to them to go back. They're my family."
Steven went back to her close proximity. His eyes changed to a darker shade of grey. "Not anymore. I am your family now." Angela opened her mouth to speak. "And if you think about denying it, I'll make sure you don't ever see your 'old family' again. You'll not be allowed to make any calls or leave my place alone."
Angela shook her head incredulously. "The mighty Steven Morris must always have it his way, right? You're the man who took over the town. The man who does anything he wants. The man who never fails. Except you did fail. Your marriage failed. It's possibly the only failure in your thirty years. That's why you wanted me back here and that why you didn't announce your divorce either. Because it would feel less of a failure. But you know the truth. You have failed, Steven Morris."
Angela's chest heaved at the release of those long overdue, harsh words at Steven. Her heavy breath became the only sound in the room.
Steven's eyes wandered from her parted lips to the rise and fall of her breasts. When he met her big green eyes, he lost it. In a second, he closed the distance between them and crushed his lips onto hers. He held her with a grip on her upper arms. Not that Angela had moved. She was too stunned to flinch.
"Don't you ever touch me again." Angela asserted when she finally managed to speak and surprisingly, her voice had came out firm.
"My touch burned you, hasn't it?"
It had. It really did. It always did. "Your ego managed to cool out your burns." Angela made to the door. She tried the handle but it was locked.
"You can't leave yet. Not enough time passed. And you can't walk out of here with swollen lips and an angry look on your face. They don't look good together. You might tarnish my ego of being an amazing lover."
Angela felt her blood boiling with rage. Like a punished girl, she slid her back down the door and sat there with her crossed arms. She might have no choice other than to stay there but she wouldn't stay within his close radius.
It was an hour later that Steven announced that John was waiting for her to take her to his condo. She wasted no time and ran to the elevator.
