Rage...
Such a strong, scary emotion. But knowing this doesn't stop me from welcoming the insanity it promises to bring.
When I said I accepted this "George" boy's ideology, I never knew Angel would take it this far!
Now I'm sitting in my car, waiting for Nora. While my daughter had already started the journey to mum's place with George! Who does he think he is?!! He can't steal my daughter from me! I won't allow it. Come to think of it, it's my devilish daughter who invited him over. He isn't family yet. Introduction or not.
After our agreement the other day, It was only right for me to invite the almighty George over. To be honest, the guy was perfect. To a fault even. That's what anger's me. I had nothing rational wise, to hold against the guy. He was polite, honest, intelligent and for a teenager, inhumanly good looking.
Every parent would want that kind of boy for his or her child. But there is time for everything. Right now, is not the time for Angel to be having a boy friend! It's books, books, books and a job then dedication to said job, achievement in said job then a relationship.
I don't like the way she looks at him. Like he is her hero. With adoration. She seems more like my five year old angel when she's around him. I can't help but ask myself, "why can't she be like that with me?" "Why can't she bare her soul out to me.?" I am her father. I won't break the heart I help created. But that George boy? the Chance's of him doing so are high...
"Back to earth Mr."
Looking up, trying to locate were that sound came from, I'm met with the baby blue iris that looks just like my Angel's. Only it belongs to Nora.
She looks fragile, like she could break with just the slightest push. Her beauty is something from a fairytale. Calm, innocent and Fair.
"Nora, are you ready?" I asked with a smile, taking in More of her features. Noticing the flirty attributes of her outfit. Like the fact that it's baby pink, accentuating the colour of her eyes. How the dress seem to subtly cling to her skin. The fact that it barely touches her knee.
Yet, doesn't reveal much of her thighs. How it's been split at the front of the knee. I don't fail to see its an off shoulder, but not a low v-neck. Groaning at the sight in front of me, I try to calm my self down.
"Jack?" She asked. Placing her hands on my shoulders, looking a little worried.
"I'm fine darling. Was just blown away by your beauty." I said with a smile.
"Thank you." She said with a shy smile. her face turning that lovely shade of pink I love.
Helping her with the door, she takes a sit and I go ahead and start the engine.
Ready to meet "the parents"? I asked her with my renowned charming smile.
She looks up and give me a nervous smile as she fondles with her wrist watch. Something she does to get her mind off of things.
"As ready as I'll ever be" she said.
With that, we made our way towards my families home.
-------------------
Just a few minutes to getting to our destination, Nora decides to ask me the one question I do not want to answer.
"Where is Angel, Jack?"
With a sigh, I answered her
"She is at mum's"
"You let her go alone?" She asked astonished.
"Of cause not!! You know I won't dream of leaving her to take such journey by herself."
"So what happened? You took her there yesterday?" She inquired.
"Hmmm, let's just say, we have an understanding." I said quietly.
"I don't understand?" She pressed on.
I wish she would just drop the subject.
"She went with a friend. To give you and I some privacy." I flatly replied.
I can't believe I am giving Angel, the one who I am so mad at, an excuse.
"Oh..." She said. Shut of words.
"I know right? She is too smart for her own good." I complained.
"She is almost sixteen Jack, she surely knows about this things." She tried to reason things out.
"Are you by chance, taking her side?" I asked feigning annoyance.
"What if I am.?" she challenge me with a smile
"Oh, who knew that Miss shy could give a snickery comment."
She fell silent and blushed once more.
"I am not shy...just reserved." She whispered. Making me chuckle.
"Oh, Nora, you are too cute." I said. As we continued our journey.
------------------
"Oh munchkin! You finally decided to show up.
We all thought something came up at work at the dine minute. Angel especially." Mum said. Giving me a warm hug. Oh, How I have missed this.
"Oh, Nora darling, sorry, I didn't notice your presence. I wasn't expecting Jack to have company."
"Its okay Mrs Patrick, it a honor to be here. I-"
"Nora and I are in a relationship. I hope you don't mind her joining in without notice?" I asked my mum. Who had a shocked expression on.
"Oh? No, not at all. If anything, I am relieved. Thought you guys wanted to talk business maters with Lewis"
"I was going to scold you for bringing work home."
"I wouldn't dream of it." I said with a boyish grin.
"You better not." She said with an undertone of threat.
"Muum!, why do you always threaten me?! I am your only son! It's not fair!' I whined like a wounded puppy. Which only got me a smack to the head from mum and Series of giggles from Nora.
"I never threatened you. Nora here can testify to it. I only stated a fact." Looking at me pointedly, as if daring me to say more.
"Is that suppose to make me feel any better?" I protested.
"Shush it boy. You and I still need to talk later. But right now, its girls time. Am snatching Nora for some few hours. Your dad is out back. "
"Mum where's Angel?" I inquired. Upset she didn't come out to see me.
"She's with your sister, and the young lad who brought her here,
Language young man. My mum scolded. Trust her to always say such things at a time like this.
"Sorry mum."
Now let him go Jack, she instructed
"No!"
"Jackson?"
I headed a sleepy voice call my name and I stilled. I knew the voice belonged to Nora. But how she got to know my full name? Only family knows.
"Baby, I know it's difficult to take this all in as a father. But we discussed this before hand." She coarse.
"Norraa.." I said sounding pained. Feeling pain.
"Its okay baby, just deep breaths."
"Slow and steady." She encouraged has she rubbed my back.
Following instructions has I focused my attention on Nora's blue eyes and her calming voice. Forgetting for a brief second that we were no alone.
I slowly let him go as I collapsed into Nora's warm embrace.
"That's it Jackson, you did good baby." She spoke lovingly into my ears.
After gaining some control, I faced the boy. Who by now was has white has a ghost.
"What is it you want with my daughter boy?" I asked by a deadly smile.
"Nothing ss- sirr."
"Nothing?" I asked with a raised eye brow.
"I like Angel Mr Westfield. More than just being friends and I would love to give this feeling a try. See where this boat takes us. I promise to give her my all. If I am giving a chance to prove my worth." He said more fluently this time. Not stammering.
"So you expect me to say yes after what I just witnessed?" I challenged
"For that sir, I am sorry. And it's not because I got caught. I am truly sorry."
"Hmm, I like this kid, he's smart." My mum quietly stated. Gaining nods and smiles from the rest of the family.
"And you?" I asked turning to Angel.
"If its okay with you dad. If not, I understand." She spoke quietly. Hope lost.
Now every one where anxiously waiting for my decision.
I guess we have to set knew rules then. I said with a smile.
"But- , wait a minute, you approve of us? Angel asked. Still finding it hard to believe.
"Well since the whole family thinks it's a good idea, I have to trust them and you on this."
Ahhh! She scream with joy jumping at me. Catching her midway has her straddling my waist in a standing position. And I couldn't help but think of when I saw her with George. Some part of me imagined it where me and not George being the reasons behind her pleasure. Wondering how it would feel to be bitten on the shoulder too. But then shaking the feeling off. I smiled down at her has she kissed me on the cheek with the lips that feasted on George just minutes ago. This made me cringe. I felt a bitter taste on my tongue. A burn in my soul. I have know idea why I feel this way. Maybe its the realisation that I am losing my daughter. Hopelessness of knowing that there are some things even has a father that I can not provide my child. Yes I love her. But my love and this one, are not the same. I can't be with her like that. But just has I thought of that, a small voice spoke. "Couldn't you?" I can't help but ask myself, "where did that come from? Where?"
