"Yeah sorry. Give me a bourbon on the rocks please." I said, loosening up my tie. I suddenly felt really hot in my clothes.
"Thanks." I told the bartender as he passed me my drink. I took a huge gulp of the drink and ignored the burn in my throat and stomach. I was going to let go and have fun even if it killed me. I started thinking to myself and swirled the drink around in my glass.
"Excuse me. Can I have 2 margaritas and a scotch on the rocks." A sexy voice said next to me. I looked up from my drink and there she was. She had a sort of a girl next door sort of look. She wasn't the kind of girl I would normally date but her personality was what stood out the most. I could read people like a book. But I couldn't read her. She made me curious about her life story. I felt like I needed her in my life.
"Trying to forget something?" I asked, sparking up a conversation. She looked up at me, as if finally noticing I was there and she realized I was talking to her.
"Why do you say that?" She asked, sounding more defensive and on guard than she needed to be.
"Only because I wouldn't take you as a girly girl drink type."
"So what gives it away." She asked leaning against the counter.
"The confidence you have when you walk and talk."
"What makes you so sure that its confidence?"
"Because you hold your head up high, not as if you're better than everyone else, but in a way to say that you can take anything that life throws at you."
"Mhmmm..." She replied as the bartender came back over and have her, her drinks.
She walked away from me and back to her table. I guess my lines weren't good enough for her because obviously rejected me. If it wasn't for the bourbon I was drinking, I probably would have gotten all defensive because my ego was hurt. That wouldn't look very good on my part at all. The bartender came back over and poured me another shot. I just sat there, trying to figure out life. I think she's the first girl that's ever walked away from me. My ego really was hurt.
For the past two weeks, I've been grieving in my apartment. After I tossed all of Kyle's things out the window and ignored all of his calls, I still didn't feel any better. I felt betrayed and abused. All I had left was Marco, Alysia and Trevor. Marco stayed with me in the apartment to watch over me, just to make sure I didn't hurt myself. Alysia and Trevor visited whenever they could get out of the restaurant.
I woke up this morning, did my morning ritual and walked out my bedroom and into the kitchen. I was a little surprised to see Alysia there.
"morning love bug." Alysia said, all cheerful.
"Hey." I replied, I was still a little sleepy so the excitement in the morning wasn't going to come from me.
"Trevor made you some breakfast." Alysia said, pulling out containers of food from a bag. "There's blueberry pancakes, turkey bacon, scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, and a big bowl of fruit salad. Your favorites."
"Mmmmm." Was all I could say, I was practically drooling. I was only starving because I needed to eat for two. I grabbed a plate full of food and made my way over to the island and pulled up a chair.
