"You're pretty." She said.
"Thank you sweetie." I replied.
"Why are you and that man fighting?" She asked. I didn't know how she knew that, but I guess it was obvious with the way I was trying to stay in my corner.
"We don't like each other very much." I said.
"Really? He's cute." I laughed at what she said and looked up to see the stranger staring at me. He had humor in his eyes and I started to feel weird so I looked back to the little girl.
"Your skin is like mommy's. Are you pregnant too?" She asked. I gasped, not knowing how to answer that. I looked up to the little girl's mother and saw her rub her swollen belly.
Did we use a condom? What if I am pregnant? How am I going to take care of this baby by myself? I asked myself. All these questions running around my head made me wonder. I looked back up to the stranger. All humor was gone from his face and he looked like he was about to pop a vein in his head. The elevator stopped at the lobby floor and the doors opened.
"Come on Claire." The mother said, grabbing the little girls hand. Clair walked off with her mother but not before further throwing my life into a frenzy.
"Bye pretty woman." Clair called while skipping away with her auburn curls bouncing with every skip.
I heard the stranger growl as he yanked me again, towards the front lobby and into a pool of paparazzi.
"Shit!" Was all I heard before a jacket was thrown over my head and I was pulled into a vehicle with the door closed behind me.
The voices outside the vehicle became muffled after the car door slammed shut. But I could still hear some of the paparazzi's questions.
"Mr. Stark, when are you going to retire? Who's this woman? Is she your new wife? What about Sinclair? Are you a polygamist?"
The questions made want to laugh but I heard a groan from my left side and a shout.
"Hurry the hell up and drive!" The stranger shouted. I pulled the jacket off my head and blinked away the throbbing from the headache.
"Here." He said as he passed me a bottle of water and some pills. I took it but not after watching him take the pills first. I've seen CSI and Bones. I'm not going to die that easily.
I watched as he groaned and leaned back into his seat. He closed his eyes and rubbed his head. So many questions began to roam around my own head. I didn't understand anything that was happening.
"Who the hell are you?" I asked out loud. I didn't mean to ask it out loud but it slipped. Too late to take it back now.
He turned his head towards me with confusion all over his face.
"I should ask the same thing, "pretty woman."" He said. Obviously not thrilled about this conversation.
"My name is Arianna. And you are?"
"Nicolas Stark."
"Are you a terrorist?" I asked.
"No." Confusion back on his face.
"Serial killer?"
"No!"
"Fugitive?"
"No!"
"Can you please stop staring at me? You're making me nervous." I said uncomfortable.
"I'm sorry it's just....you really don't know who I am?" He asked.
"No I don't. And I don't care."
"Most women I meet would kill for this to happen to them."
"Well I'm not most women."
"You want money don't you?" He asked, narrowing his eyes, studying me.
"No." I answered.
"You want to blackmail me with my kids?" What tf is he getting at?
"No! I don't even like kids. Why the hell would I want to have your kids!?"
He once again looked at me as though I grew a second head. TF is his problem?
I walked towards the tall office buildings until I noticed that Nicolas wasn't behind me. I turned around to see what the hell was taking him so long. Low and behold, he was staring at me again. This time I realized that he wasn't use to being rejected because his jaw was clenched tight and a vein in his head was pulsing. I also noticed that his eyes were dark. That's when I realized that I married a ticking time bomb.
"Are you coming?" I asked. He didn't even blink; he just walked up to me, grabbed my arm and pulled me into the building behind him.
"Do you have to contiguously manhandle me? I'm not a damn child." I said, angry. Every time he moved towards me, I got angrier and angrier. I'm a grown ass woman he continuously scolds me like I'm 5 years old.
