He just groaned in response and continued walking, dragging me with him. He pulled me onto an awaiting elevator that seemed as though it was for important people. He hit the top floor button and a few minutes later, the elevator doors opened.
Nicolas stepped out and pulled me along with him. I looked around the hallway that we walked into and noticed the neutral colors that adorned the walls and furniture.
Nicolas walked up to the secretary's desk and starting tapping, obviously annoyed. A young woman looked up from her computer with an angry look, but that quickly diminished once she saw Nicolas.
"Oh. Hello Mr. Stark." She said, attempting to use a seductive voice while pushing her chest up and fixing her hair.
"Slut." I said in a low voice. This is probably why Nicolas's ego is way too big. Nicolas looked up at me with his angry expression long gone, and replaced with humor and a smirk on his face.
"I need to see Jim." Nicolas said, still smiling at me. I guess the slut didn't notice my presence until Nicolas looked at me. I looked towards her and she was giving me the stank face. If looks could kill, I would have been six feet under before I could blink.
"Me and my wife need to have a little chat with him." Nicolas said. As soon as the word "wife" left his mouth, the slut almost chocked on the cappuccino she sipped on. At first she looked surprised and shocked but then a sly smile spread across her face.
"Oh of course. She's already in the office waiting for you. She arrived shortly before you did." She said.
Nicolas's head snapped back to the secretary and recognition spread across his face.
"Shit. She's here." He said.
Who the hell is she? I asked myself.
As I watched Nicolas have a mental fight with himself over whoever was waiting for him inside the office, I too had a million thoughts running through my head.
Nicolas gripped my hand and gave a light squeeze before turning to me and looking completely horrified. I didn't know what his deal was but whoever was waiting for him inside that office had to have a hold on him because he was acting like he was scared of her. Maybe it's his mother? I asked myself. Then I shook that thought away because the slut...I mean secretary, said it was Nicolas's wife.
Nicolas guided me towards the office doors of who I assumed was his lawyer friend Jim. Nicolas knocked twice on the door and waited. I noticed his eyes were a little glazed over and there was a tick in his jaw, what I assumed was fear earlier coming from him has finally turned into anger. Who ever was waiting was about to get the shock of their lives.
I was more than lost right now.
Nicolas still looked upset that the girl was here. I still didn't know what the hell was going on.
The door, to what I guessed was the bathroom, opened and a young woman stepped out. She had long light brown hair and puffy bags under her sad brown eyes. She wore a navy blue pencil business skirt with a matching jacket and blue stiletto heels. She looked like a model too.
Where the hell do these people come from and what kind of youth potions do they drink! I need some of that!
She looked at all of us and my heart broke with how sad she looked. I remember seeing her face before. Maybe a magazine although I wouldn't doubt it.
She walked over to the office table that sat in front of the tall ceiling high windows that overlooked the city.
James and Nicolas just stared at her. I did as well. But she didn't look bothered with all the attention, she was probably use to stealing the spotlight when she walks into a room.
