"Clair. Sweetie. Are you feeling better?" James asked, grabbing a box of tissues and walking over to where she sat. She just took the tissues and cried silently.
Once again I was completly lost as to why she was crying so hysterically like her favorite aunt died. And then of course my brain snapped on.
Sinclair. Sinclair Pacino. The Italian model who is dating some mega rich billionaire. I put two and two together and guessed it was Nicolas whom she was crying over.
I looked over to Nicolas and noticed that he was staring at me. He looked more empty than anything else. I guessed that he was deciding that marrying me, even in a sham wedding, wasn't worth making this beautiful model hurt like this. I wouldn't blame him either. I wasn't worth all this.
"Clair. I'm sorry." Nicolas said. He looked completely emotionless, like her crying didn't really affect him or he was hiding his true emotions.
She looked at him and a switch went off. She started picking stuff up and throwing it at him. Nicolas dodged every object thrown his way and I had to give him credit, either he was use to this with her or he had really good reflexes.
She cried and threw stuff and cussed in Italian until she finally gave up. The entire time James and I just looked on. I saw how James cared about Claire's wellbeing. The affection and sympathy he showed to her was touching. But I also noticed that it couldn't be anything more than his brotherly affections because he never acted as though they were anything but play siblings.
James walked over to Sinclair, after her last throw of some rather expensive looking statue, and hugged her. She sunk into his arm and just sobbed. I looked over to Nicolas and noticed a gash on his cheek. It was bleeding so I did the first thing I thought of and that was to help clean it.
I got a wet paper towel from the bathroom and walked over to him. He didn't push me away when I dabbed at his cheek, instead he just watched me, With emotionless eyes. For a second I just stopped and stared into his eyes, searching for the goodness in his soul. Searching for what I knew wouldn't be in there. Love. Love for me. I knew he didn't love me but I felt the connection between us. Surely he felt it too. As we looked into each others eyes, it felt like it was only us. It wasn't like when James and I drifted off to erotic island. No. This time me and Nicolas were seeing each others true selves. Falling in love without saying anything. I just wanted to kiss him and make all the pain go away.
I heard a string of Italian profanity behind me and turned around to see Claire giving me the evil eye. Her vein in her head was throbbing and she looked about ready to kill.
"quindi questo è il slut mi hai lasciato per?" Clair asked.
"Stop you didn't hear he correctly claire. We didn't have an affair. We've only known each other since last night. And even then we were drunk." Nicolas said.
"Don't try and make up for the fact that you cheated!" Claire shouted.
"You weren't even together!" I screamed clearly annoyed with her being an drama queen about the whole thing.
"What did you say to me slut!?" Claire shouted and then she lunged at me.
I watched as Claire lunged at me, I dodged her and she looked a little confused when she realized I wasn't in her grasp. She looked around and when she found me came running again. This time I wasn't about to back down. I stood in my defensive stance and punched her smack dab in the face.
