I felt a tap on my shoulder and I turned around and noticed it was Alysia.
"Can I talk to you alone please?" She asked. I nodded and followed behind her as she led us to the baby room. Marco was moving out so that I could have a baby room since the baby needed a room. Marco didn't mind moving since he was already looking at moving anyway. The room wasn't painted yet but it had a few baby items lying around.
"What's up Alysia?" I asked concerned since she was really quiet.
"Give Nicolas a chance."
"What!?"
"I'm serious Ari. He's not that bad of a guy."
"Aren't you the one that told me you would kill him if he ever showed up here again!?"
"I know Ari but I got to him more and he's honestly trying. He set up this entire baby shower, paid for everything, and apologized to your brother for everything. Kevin promised he wouldn't kill him as long as he doesn't make you upset. He honestly cares about you. You just have to give him a chance."
"I don't think so." I said loud.
"Please. If not for me, then do it for the baby. Ari you can't raise him on your own. He needs his father."
"She doesn't need him in her life. I can be her mother and father. I refuse to let her or him grow up in this world with a father like that."
"Ok." He said. I was grateful that he didn't do the most about it because I definitely wasn't in the mood for him to be making a big deal out of everything. I could feel his eyes on me and they felt like they were seeing into my soul. I turned sharply away from him and walked away. The further away from him I got, the more I could breathe.
"Great! LETS GET THIS PARTY STARTED!!!" I heard Marco yell. Alysia walked over to me and sat me in one of the living room chairs. She put a sash on me that said "MOMMY TO BE". It was cute. I smiled while looking down at it. Then Alysia handed me my first baby shower gift. I pulled the paper out of the bag and pulled the clothes out of the bag. It was a cute 'coming home' outfit. It was blue with footsies attached and had a hat to match. I almost cried on the spot thinking about the baby and how fast this pregnancy flew by.
"Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!" Everyone said in unison when I showed it to them. I honestly enjoyed all the baby shower gifts I was getting. Despite most of the people in the room being complete strangers, I felt blessed to have people that cared enough to buy me gifts. I opened probably a hundred gifts. I got a baby clothes, socks, toys, car seats, bibs, feeding chair, hats, pacifiers, baby bottles, a breast feeding machine, and 2 beautiful strollers. The only thing I didn't get was a crib. I wasn't upset because that just meant it would be one thing I had to buy for the baby. I didn't have to pay for the rest of the gifts so I was happy.
"OMG Wait. You have to open ours." A very beautiful blond woman told me, she handed me the gift, walked over to Kevin and hooked arms. She winked at me encouragingly. I guessed she was Kevin's "friend", Kelly. I pulled the object out of the bag and it was toy bright red maserati. It was cute. On the bottom was an engraving. It read, "Uncle Kev loves you. I'll always be here no matter what happens." I almost cried on the spot, but I held the tears in until the very end.
I had two gifts left and they were both from Alysia. I was really excited to open it. I opened the first one and pulled out an outdoor baby outfit that said "Daddy's Little Man". I gasped and stared at her clearly mad. She just laughed and ignored the daggers I was shooting at her. I opened the next one and pulled it out. It was a red and black see-through lace lingerie two piece. I threw the box at her and she ducked while laughing hysterically along with everyone else. Nicolas was the only one with no expression on his face. His jaw was set as he stared at me. I looked him in the eyes and I honestly wanted to go over to him and make him feel better but I knew that it wasn't a good idea. Instead I just put the clothes back into another bag and put it on the chair with the other gifts.
