Fated Or Accident novel Chapter 34

"I'm guessing you already know what I want since you have all my favorite foods." I joked. I give him props for looking for help from my closest friends. It showed that he really did care about what I wanted.

"I did ask Trevor and Alysia about your favorite foods and since you like the same things I liked, I thought we might as well eat it for our dinner."

"Good. I'm glad that you did this Nicolas." I said as he handed me a plate of spaghetti and a breadstick. My mouth started watering as I looked at the food but I was going to be proper today and let him sit down before I ate. When he did sit down I accepted that this date would change things forever. I was finally going to let him in my life again. But first I needed to tell him about the baby's father....

The date started off nice. I ate more than I usually would thanks to me having to eat for two. Nicolas was nice enough not to drink wine or an alcoholic beverage in front of me. Instead we both had water.

"You know Ari. This is probably my first date in I don't know how long." Nicolas said. I looked up at him shocked.

"Really? That's surprising." I said clearly surprised.

"Why? Because I'm one of the world's most eligible bachelors with thousands of groupies." He said.

"Yeah and because your ego is about as big as that damn ocean." I said laughing. Nicolas gave me a fake shock face and laughed along with me.

We sat there for about two hours laughing and joking. Until Nicolas asked if I wanted to walk along the beach. I agreed and he helped me out of the chair, hooked arms and we started walking.

"I want to be completely honest with you Ari. I don't usually do things like this."

"Hmm. And why is that?"

"I don't know. I guess it's because I never found someone whom I wanted to do all this for. That's until now of course." He said chuckling a little.

"Nicolas..."

"Wait Ari. Kyle leaving you was my fault. I take full responsibility for it because if I wasn't such a dumb ass, I would be the father of that baby and we would still be married. I want to be the father of that baby; I'll treat him or her as if they were my own. They'll never know the difference. And I'll mend your broken heart. Every time I look in your eyes, I see how much pain I caused you and I want to fix all of it."

"Nicolas the baby..."

"I know the baby isn't mine but please. Just give me a chance to show you that I won't leave this time. I can offer you and the baby the world. And I know you're not a materialistic person but I promise you won't have to lift a finger for the rest of your life." He said staring into my soul. I bust into tears after that. I couldn't hold the waterworks and since I was pregnant, my emotions and hormones were all over the place. I couldn't hold any of my emotions back anymore.

Nicolas wiped the tears off my face and kissed me. At first it was a light kiss, his lips were soft and then I realized what was happening and kissed him back. Both of our emotions were in the kiss. He pulled back after a while and rested his forehead on mine, still looking into my eyes. I didn't want to move an inch, in fear that I might mess up the moment. And then he said something that I realized I wasn't ready for.
