"What did you do to him?"
His brows furrowed. "I am Vin."
"Then why are you doing this?"
"Because," he looked to April and Conner, his eyes glistening. "they were gonna kill my family. I knew we weren't allowed to go that deep into the woods, but I didn't listen. My lucky arrow went outside the shield so I went out to get it, and that's how they caught me. At first, they wanted me to lure Alaric out there and I agreed to it. Then they said I had to kill him so April and Conner wouldn't suffer."
"Okay. Then why were you about to run off with that baby?"
"To protect her, and everyone else. As long as I have their trust, they won't attack just yet."
"Why didn't you come to me?"
"Because they'd know. They're watching us."
"Give me the baby."
"Why?"
"If you're telling the truth then hand her over."
He did, but not willingly. I beckoned April to come get her, advising her and her brother to go inside.
They didn't. They'll regret it.
"I'm gonna ask you this again, and I'll give you a chance to explain yourself and maybe, I won't kill you. Where is Vin?"
"I am Vin."
My hand latched onto his throat and squeeze the life out of him. The pack was rattled by my display of violence, but I ignored them. He was not one of our own.
"Why are you lying?" I furrowed my brow. "Are you forgetting who I am? I am the Luna of this pack, I am the Warlock Queen, you never lie to me because I'll always know."
"I thought those were just myths." he choked out. "Look into the eyes of a Warlock Queen and she sees everything. Then how come your mother didn't?" he smirked. "She should have known we'd double cross her eventually. I didn't understand before why she wanted to protect some human garbage until that incident in the woods. You changed a lot since then. Now you look like a Warlock Queen. "
"I know what you are. I knew you were lying the moment you opened your mouth. Vin would never do those things."
"You're right," he whispered. "That's why I killed him."
Without any warning, my fingers sunk beneath his skin and ripped his throat out. April screamed in agony as I released his body. She tried to get to him but Ethan held her before she could get far. Slowly his body morphed back into the being I knew he was, but it only made her more upset.
Shaper.
"What's that?" Conner asked.
"Not your brother." I blinked at him.
"What hell is happening here!" Jen said. "I leave for four days and I come back to a garage of half dead wolves?"
"What plan?"
"They wanted, you to kill him, so they could kill Vin."
My jaws locked. "What are you saying? That he wasn't..."
Alaric shook his head. "He wasn't dead."
"I killed him?"
"We don't know that yet-" he coughed. "I sent Troy and Sage to find him. We'll just have to hope, they made it, in time."
I messed up...I really messed up this time...
I felt his presence before anyone else. He and Troy were heading toward us, Vin still in Troy's hand and Sage gripping onto his bow and arrow. His face was grave as he stared at me, and I knew then that I had royally fucked up.
A tear plopped from my eye as I watched his lifeless head bobbing as Troy walked.
Look into the eyes of a Warlock Queen and she sees everything. Then how come your mother didn't?
Because you tricked her. They same way you tricked me...
I should have been distraught over what happened to Vin, but I wasn't. Instead, I was frustrated. I was just so over everything at this point. If they want a war, I'm sure as hell gonna give them one. My mother might have run away from this, but so much have happened in four months that the part of me that would have tucked in a ball, was completely eradicated. I just want all of this to be over so I can finally breathe. I just want peace.
