Summary of Chapter 116 – A pivotal chapter in New Wolf by Shea
The chapter Chapter 116 is one of the most intense moments in New Wolf, written by Shea. With signature elements of the Internet genre, this part of the story reveals deep conflicts, shocking revelations, and decisive character changes. A must-read for anyone following the narrative.
I ordered Alaric to take down the shield as soon as he had enough strength to. It was senseless at this point to have it up if the Raiders found a weak spot. Although we'd be exposing ourselves to them, I don't think they'll be stupid enough to attack on our grounds. They'd want to make sure their fight is a guaranteed win so I know they'd be waiting in Tylon.
I just don't understand why they want to fight so badly. They knew about me for years, they could have destroyed me before I discovered who I was, yet they didn't. But why? Was it because they wanted my mother? Azulon? Why did they choose now to attack?
I pushed the door open and headed for Sage's office. I need something- anything for the matter- of what Liam might have had stored away when he was Alpha. Since my mother foresaw all of this, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't leave me with nothing.
"Hanna."
In the library, I finally realized that the war was just history continuing itself. The Raiders think I am their enemy even though I could have went the rest of my life not knowing that part of me existed. They no longer wanted to be exiled so they need a warlock. I had a plan, and if executed properly, we all might escape this alive. Before I looked into Azulon's eyes, it was to slowly trickle our soldiers into Tylon to gain as much leverage as we could, and with Alaric and Troy by our side, we had actually stood a chance. But the fact that they manage to still get in undetected blew everything out of the water.
I had called for a meeting in regards to undeniable fear that was spreading through the pack. I explained my new plan to everyone, ordering the feeble, pregnant, nursing and small children to go underground when the meeting concluded. The fighters and trackers, male and female alike, would stay and prepare for the war.
War... that's what this fight suddenly became.
I allowed them two hours to say goodbye to their loved ones if the worst were to happen. I never like the idea of anyone being separated from their families because I know the feeling first hand. But with how the current events unfolded, I knew no more mistakes can be made unless I want to lose everyone entirely.
"Hanna stop."
If only I knew how to use my powers on command; I probably could go at this on my own. But unfortunately, we didn't have enough time for that. And besides, Troy said my powers were tied in with my emotions so if I tried to force it out, it wouldn't work. If someone were to get hurt, it'd become automatic, but I don't want it to have to come to that for me to finally take charge. I wish my trigger was anger like my mother's because these sons of bitches have pissed me off for the last time.
"Hanna."
If anyone of the raiders were second guessing this fight, they must be all for it now since I killed one of them. And since they killed one of ours, they know our retaliation would come. But what I don't understand was why they had a shaper with them. I thought all the Raiders were hunters whose only purpose was to massacre any species that took part in the killings of their own.
"True. You do give very good advice."
"Is that all I am to you. Your personal guru?"
I smiled. How does he always get me to do that at everything?
"You serve well for other purposes too."
"So, are you gonna tell me what you were rummaging around in here for?"
