Scott POV

I swear when he wakes up I'm going knock him right back out. Who the hell would even consider hurting their own sister-further more, MY mate! I've seen Sage do a lot of senseless things but this by far was the most senseless! I get he lost his mate to his dumbass uncle, but that doesn't give him the right to take out someone else's. I swear I could just-I wanna just-

I felt her hand on my shoulder and it immediately calmed me down. But not calm enough.

"Are you okay?" her voice was so soft.

"Yeah, I'm just fine," I answered before storming outside on the porch. I gripped on to the railing, breaking it in the process.

Sage, I know you're my best friend and all, but I swear if you ever try to hurt Nichole again, I will kill you myself. Nobody hurts my mate.

"Scott," her voice said. I turn around to face her. "I know what you're thinking...and you and I both know it will only make things worst." I just stared at her. "You can't kill Sage."

"And why the hell not?" I growled at her.

"Because I know you won't. You love Sage too much to want to kill him. He like your brother." she paused. "And who would want to hurt their own brother."

"So what am I suppose to do then?" I glared at her, but she seemed unaffected.

"Nothing." the way she said made it seem like I was the only one taking this entire thing seriously. I looked at her baffled.

"Nothing? You want me to do nothing?" She merely nodded and I couldn't be more taken aback. "You have got to be freaking kidding me!" I groaned loudly.

"Scott, I don't see why you're being like this," she said, getting upset as well. "You should understand better than anyone else Sage's situation. You know Hanna's all he talks about, you know how much he cares about her and then losing her to his uncle? How do you think he'd feel? That's why he's going so crazy. You know what losing a mate does to a wolf. He doesn't want the same thing that happened with Katelynn to happen to Hanna. She's probably going through hell right now as we speak! He doesn't want to lose anyone else, he doesn't want to lose his mate. How would you feel if it was me instead of Hanna and you instead of Sage? How would you feel?"

I gently cupped her cheek, my eyes darkening a little. "Don't ever say that. It will never happen. I will never let that happen. No one will hurt you."

She placed both her hands over mine." Then you need to stop being like this. It's not you Scott and I hate it." She stared at me, her eyes sad, begging and I couldn't be more ashamed of myself. Here I am with my mate in my arms, alive and well, when Sage is the suffering not knowing what has happened to Hanna.

"Nichole I'm sorry," I grazed my thumb across her cheek. "It's just when Sage set his sights on you, I guess I just freaked."

"It's okay, just promise me you'll at least try to keep you cool this time. We can't have people dying before the fight even starts."

He leaned against the door frame and smirked. " Well, well, well, what is this we have here? Don't you too look cozy over there?" he teased.

"What do you want Adam?" I asked, getting annoyed.

"Oh, don't worry about me. I'm more interested in this little scene in front on me," he said, amusement laced in his voice.

I gave him a flat look. "If you don't want anything you can just-"

"Oh, Sage is waking up." He fanned off. "But this is more interesting if you ask me."

"Sage is waking up?" Nichole piped up.

"You want to go inside now?" I asked her.

"Yeah!" she yelled, pulling her warmth along with her. "I'm gonna kick his ass for trying to kill me!" she said, walking to the door.
