Sage POV

I shut my locker door anything but silently and Hanna groaned.

Yeah, I did that on purpose.

"I just wanna stab my eye out with an ice pick." she moaned.

"Awe," I grinned and embraced her. "Does someone have a migraine?" I petted her hair, clearly amused.

"I wanna kill somebody." she muffled in my chest. "Why does it hurt so much?" she whined.

"Haven't you been drunk before?"

"I'd never drank before." she said matter-of-factly.

"I should have known you were an alcohol virgin."

"Shut up." she mumbled.

When the bell rang she clung to me like a scared little kitten. I laughed loudly at this, earning a few stares.

"I don't wanna go to Gym," she whined. "We have to participate, and talk to people, and I'm pretty sure I'll bite their heads off."

"Wanna skip then?" I suggested.

"No. I promised my Dad, I'd stay in school," she says softly.

Oh yeah, her dad. I never wanted to ask her about it because I wanted her to tell me herself. I gave her time, hoping we might stumble upon the topic but we never did, and she never told me.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I said after a while.

"What?"

"I know," I said in a monotone, and I knew she was aware of what I meant.

"What did you expect?" she whispered. "You think I was gonna tell someone I'd just met my whole life story? It's not easy talking about something that makes you hate life itself just because some stupid disease took away the most important person in your life..."

My heart ached for her, but I don't regret bringing it up. She needs to get it out because bottling it up will make it worst.

"Do still wanna go to class?"

"Yes. I'm fine," she said wiping her tears and sighed. She took my hand shot me a crooked smile. "Let's go."

We made it to the gymnasium just seconds before the last bell. When I exited the locker room, I saw not only was Hanna already there but she was socializing with a group of girls.

And here I thought she hated people.

I snuck behind her and hugged her from behind. When I kissed the top of her head, all the girls giggled and cooed. I felt Hanna sink her nails into my arms and making it clear she was blazed by my display of affection.

"Ladies," I grinned and they giggled.

"¡Adios!" Mrs. Vazquez greeted us all as we charged through the door. It was kind was always kind of sad that no one ever says it back because she's such sweet little lady. I know I never say it but I might have if I didn't have this killer headache.

Still, I know. Look at me making excuses.

When I was nearing my locker, I saw that someone was leaning next to it. I knew it wasn't Sage right away, he was on the other side of the school. As soon as I got close enough to recognize the face, a sadist chuckle escapes my lips when he sees me.

"Look who it is?" I said smugly. "Why am I not surprised?" I opened my locker.

"And I still see you're feisty as ever." he smirked and I rolled my eyes.

"What do you want Jacob?" I got down to the point.

"Calm down." he held up his hands in surrender. "Why do I have to want something? I was just wondering how you were because you were gone for a while."

I almost dropped my books at that. "I had, stuff, to take care of."

"What kind of stuff?"

"Can't you just go chase some girl in a mini skirt? I appreciate the concern, but I'm not in the mood to talk." I could feel my headache coming back.

Curse you alcohol.

"C'mon Hanna! Just give me a chance!"
