But everything broke down when my father was going to die. One disaster came after the other, and all the while, I felt myself breaking. My mind, my body, my soul-I can't take it anymore.

"Hanna." I heard an all too familiar voice. I was beginning to wonder when he'd approach me again. I've noticed he's been doing some navigating for a while, avoiding me like the plague.

"Jacob," I said. "I would say it's a pleasure, but I feel like I'd regret it later on in the conversation-"

"I need your help." he cut me off.

I just stared at him dumbfounded. Jacob? Jacob McFarlon needs my help? The same Jacob who wanted to show me a good time- the same Jacob who claimed he was the one for me.

"Why would you need my help?"

"Because you know about them." he said weakly.

He didn't look well either. The tips of his hair at the front were darker due to the sheen of sweat on his forehead, and his cheeks were tainted, bags were under his eyes.

"Are you okay?" I furrowed my brows in concern.

Yeah, can't believe it either. I was worried.

"Don't avoid the question!" he frowned, but his expression softened right after. "I know you know about them," he said again.

I shook my head, honestly confused. "What?"

"The wolves." he hissed.

I just stared at him. Did I actually hear what I just heard? It could be that I was delusion from the past events and everything I hear is wolf related. Or it could be that Jacob said those words and I'm standing there like an idiot not denying everything.

"I don't know what you're talking about," I said weakly.

Wow, Hanna, you're so convincing!

"Don't lie. I know everything." he frowned.

"Like?" I asked.

"Look I just need your help, okay?" he said, not bothering to answer my question. "I'm in trouble. And it's really bad."

"What are you-"

"This," he whispered, lift his shirt and revealed a very disturbing wound. I gasped, my stomach sinking a bit at the sight. It was bloody where the indented, broke skin was, and it looked painful and festering. But what made it so mortifying was that it looked like a bite mark.

I quickly pulled his shirt down and glance at Mr. Dole.

"You keep saying they? Who is 'they'?"

"Hunters." He frowned. "But these people don't fight to preserve order. To them it's revenge. There was a war that broke out and no one was obeying the law. Women, children, and innocent people were slaughtered-mostly hunters. The warriors had come home to see their family, their friends dead and became resentful. The hatred started then. When things went back under control, there were some that weren't so forgiving. They broke away from the clan and form one of their own. The Raiders. People would have done something about it if they didn't have such a powerful leader- their strategies were brilliant. He was supposed the capture the leader of the Warlocks to break the exile spell, so they could raid Tylon. But the mission was unsuccessful because he ended up falling for her. He left Raiders for her and they hated him for it."

"How do you even know all of this?"

"It was pretty much pressed into my brain when they turned on me. I thought I was doing a good thing, I really did. I thought they were the good people. But after the thing with the kid, I couldn't be apart of it anymore-"

"What did you just say?" I cut him off, my eyes wide.

"They kidnapped this kid and did some weird shit. That's when I realized that it wasn't about finding this Warlock. They were out for blood."

"That was you!" I grabbed him by the collar. "Did you know what you caused!"

"I'm sorry! I didn't know what they were actually planning. When I told them I wanted to back out, they threw me to the wolves, literally. That's how I got the bite."

"How did you get away?" I said releasing my hold.

"That's what I don't know either. They just ran off. I didn't wait around to see why so I got the hell out of there. They haven't contacted me in days and I don't know what they're waiting for! I know I'm a dead man for telling you this but, you need to know. They're everywhere and they're coming."
