He started to walk away and for a while, I just watch him. But I needed to know something.

"Wait!" I yelled but he didn't stop. In fact, he actually collapsed right on the cold floor.

Right. I forgot his situation.

I rushed to him and gently rolled him over on his back. I felt something wet on my hand and saw that the blood was seeping through his thin shirt.

The wound must have reopened.

He was eyes were half open and thank God he was still breathing. And even though it wasn't the appropriate to ask this, I needed to know.

"Jacob?"

"Mmm," he mumbled.

"How am I involved in this?"

"It's not safe. You have to leave. Go back home." he breathed and then passed out.

Nothing.

I guess I was right. Things are getting twisted again. And this time around, I don't I'll make it out safe and sound.

When I walked into the cafeteria, it was like I was in a haze. It's was so loud. Everyone seemed so far away. Everything seemed so far...

"Hanna?" I heard Sage, his voice sounding incredulous. I looked at him, and I knew my expression was anything but calm. I noticed he glanced at my hand and I knew why immediately.

Jacob's blood was on it.

I clenched my fist, trying to draw is attention away.

"What happened?" he got up now, approaching me. This got everyone at the table's attention.

"Something," I paused. "something bad happened."

"Damn, Hanna," Scott's eyes widened. "I knew you didn't like him but-"

"I didn't do anything." I scowled.

"I was only teasing." he fanned off, grinning. "but on the serious side of things, what happened?" he pinched his nose. "He smells like-"

"A rotting body." a chorus answered.

Oh, yeah. Forgot they could smell death.

"Yeah." Scott sneered.

"He got bitten." Stella clarified. "It looks pretty bad, and it's deep too. probably about... thirty hours ago."

She was squatted before Jacob's body, examining his wound. They all seem to stare at her confusingly, and she rolled her eyes at their bewilderment. And not to exaggerate her pettiness but I was wondering why she didn't even faint at the sight of blood.

"What? Someone has to be the doctor of this group. Every ten seconds it's like one of you guys are on your death bed." She said.

"Shhhh!" he whispered. "Daniels is coming!"

Nichole groaned. "Are you kidding me!"

"Quick! Hide him!" Sage rushed. Everyone took a U-turned and began rushing back down the hall. Devin resorted to dragging Jacob by his legs in an attempt to speed things up.

"What the hell Devin! Pick him up! You're leaving a trail!" Sage yelled, and very loudly might I had. I knew the Daniels guy caught us now because he began yelling from around the corner.

I don't know how it happened between the swift moment Devin reeled Jacob and us running, because all I knew, my feet were no longer on the ground.

Jacob's head hit my chin and I fell backward. The pain was excruciating, and at this point in time, I really wanted to break his jaw, unconscious or not.

Sage dragged me to my feet and tried to direct me down the hall. I winced as the sudden movements caused me nothing but pain. A constant pounding was spreading from the affected area to my temples.

I groaned.

"Are you okay?" Sage asked.

I groaned again.

"Come here." he said, dashing into an empty classroom, that I soon found myself entering along with him.

He shut the door and turned the lock, all the while staring through the tiny glass.

I just watched him, my head feeling stuffed and heavy. His phone suddenly rang, which he answered immediately, and then a sigh of relief escaped him. But the unexpected noise of the phone affected my nerves in a way that left me gritting my teeth forcefully. Everything he did or said came to me as slurs and blurs, and all seem to move so slowly.
