"No. My father died of cancer, not some poison."

"It wasn't cancer, it just acts like it as it destroys blood cells. It's called Lytral and is probably the most horrible way to die. It kills the body slowly and painfully because it's mostly used for torture. And I'm guessing that boy over there has been infected also. The only difference is that he got a higher dosage. Your father refused to tell them where I was so they injected him with it."

"So what about all the treatments and stuff he went through. The doctors said it was gone."

She smiled sadly. "It's a trick, and those medications happen to progress it actually. Once you've been infected, you're infected. The treatments only help with the pain a bit. There weren't many wolves we could trust to counteract the venom and Max didn't want to sacrifice anyone in Kyle's pack, so he chose to die. But, your friend has a chance. The bite will save him."

"How do you know?"

"I can predict time." She sighed. "Hanna, I'm not human."

"Whoa," Charlie choked out before I could.

"Then what are you?" I asked.

"I'm a Warlock."

There was a loud crash and were all turn to see Jenalee gaping, aghast.

"As in The." Jen barely got out.

"Yes."

"Oh my gosh, forgive me, your highness." She swiftly bowed. "I had no idea it was you. Or that you were still alive even."

What is going on?

"That's because I'm not suppose to be alive. When I left Tylon, it was to make the Raiders think I'm dead. Pretending to be human was the only way. If the Raiders ever got in, it's over."

"Stop." I finally said. "Please just stop. Because, if you really are my mother then what Jacob told me about the war and the hunters, and this spell," I whispered. "then my father was the man that was supposed to kill you. You're the one they want."

"No. Hanna it's you. Before I left, I gave you the insignia of your people. It was to protect you if I ever got killed. Have you ever wondered why your father told you to never get your ears pierced."

I held the said pair. "How did you know about that?"

"It's coming." My mother nodded. "Warning three will initiate the fight. And when it happens, one will die, and one will be taken."

Everyone visibly paled. Each eye scanned the faces of their mates, their friends, their families.

I looked to Sage, desperation seeming to swallow me whole. But I didn't know what for. I crushed my body against him for fear's sakes. He buried his face in my hair, his breathing was uncontrolled. His hold was tight, savoring.

He felt helpless. I just know it.

For the first time, it was up to me to, help him, help everyone, to play hero. But I don't even know what I'm supposed to do. He's scared for me, but I never felt so terrified in my life. I was lost.

Just go home. If you ever get lost you need to go home.

Of course... I need to go home.

It was weird, and it's not like I haven't seen one before, but Jacob being a wolf now was just contradicting in the sense that I hesitate before saying things he already knows. But it wasn't even just that, he was being so protective of me. I understand that all our lives are in danger but there are more important things than me at the moment. And granted, I was the stem of this all. According to my mother, I am the one they want and will not stop to attain. After many sleepless nights filled with pondering, I've decided to take a trip to the safe house. My father said to go there if I'm ever lost, and right now I need some guidance.
