"Will you be mine forever?" he said, his face visible enough by the moonlight for me to see his beautiful face.

"You say it like it's a good thing." I cried. His question startled me, it made me feel. But it also drove me to rethink the secret I'm keeping from him. Because moments... moments like these, are something to be cherished, and in order to do that you have to fight for what you want.

"You can't chase me away anymore. I'm with you."

"After everything, you still think I'm worth it."

"Because you are. I want every part of you to belong to me. Even your bad."

I was quiet for a while. "Even your bad," I said strongly. "I want your bad too."

I softly put my lips against his. He held my shoulders and gently pushed me to my back all while keeping our lips locked. Shock drilled into me as he feathered light kisses between the valley of my breasts. My back arched as I gripped his hair, and there was only one thought that lodged into my mind.

No turning back now.

I was nervous, that much was obvious. Each time his hands traveled a bit too low, I literally jumped twenty feet in the air. I knew he said to stop him whenever I changed my mind, but when his canines tore through the base of my neck, everything just smeared together. The union of our fleshes, our souls, our serendipitous love.

And he didn't rush, he took his time on what no one else will ever get to uncover. It was desperate, needy, passionate, and so lovely that it had me teary eyed a few times. I never understood how a person's eyes could easily water due to the recognition of unconditional love. But I feel as if crying could never bear the full disclosure of my heart due to him. Love is infinite, as they say. Though, I led myself to believe there was more that I so deeply craved besides matter.

And it was hope. Hope in us, our lives, our future. I wanted things to be alright, I want peace. If there was one thing I could ever get in my life, I want peace. I've been looking through eighteen years of my life with the same eyes, same mind, the same beat-up heart, and discovering Sage breathed something in me. We were a bit rushed in the beginning, but the time lapse during my kidnapping seemed like an evaluation of mostly my heart. He's everything to me now, but I'm pretty sure he already had that mindset of me embedded since the day I met him.

I guess I'm a bit behind.

"When are you leaving?" He asked, bringing me from my thoughts. By the beat of his steady heart, I was sure he was asleep, but I guess I was wrong.

"Soon. As in a few hours..." I paused. "I know it's kind of-"

"It's okay."

A moment of silence nested among us. "I love you," I say.

"Then promise this me one thing. When all of this is over," He paused. "marry me."

His hand tightened around mine that was on his chest, which almost gripped his skin in aspiration. "How do you expect me to say no when you say something so beautiful?"

"I want you to say yes."

I smiled up at him. "You know the first time I met you, I thought I killed you."

"Yeah," he said matter-of-factly. "You're car came outta nowhere!"

"I'm sorry!" I defended. "My mind was somewhere else! Anyway," I returned to the point. "who would have thought after that you'd still be hanging around me?"

"It is a strange way to meet your mate." He pondered. "But I'm glad you hit me with your car cause I never would have met you."

"Me too." I smiled, and also in anxiousness of what I'm about to say. "I only have one condition if I'm going to marry you," I started, and instantly, he reacted. "there better be chocolate cake."

Sage eyed me strangely before chuckling and cupped my cheeks. "Don't worry I'll make sure to reserve the entire thing for you." He planted a lingering kiss upon my lips that had my stomach swirling. Our soft affections surprising escalated quickly, which according to Sage was a side effect of completing the mating. His hands found their way to my waist and brought me to straddle him. As our lips worked on each other, his hands gently massaged my skin, enough for his feather-like fingers to affect me so deeply.
